A Reason To Celebrate Photo

Photographer’s Note

Two women celebrating their successful ascend to the summit of Munt Pers (3207M) about half an hour after me. I missed snapping the part when they were hugging & kissing each other.

Behind the ladies is the Bernina Valley where Pontresina is located. The village of Samedan can barely be seen at the junction of the valley. Not far from there to the left lay Celerina & St Moritz but cannot be seen from this mountain. On the right is Alp Languard.

Hi Latiff, You have captured a show of enthusiasm and happiness on the faces of these two ladies. Very nice compostion with the clouds and the mountain range in the background. You were fortunate to have the lady in red as that really brings color to the photo. Nice going. Roger

Hello Latiff,
Good job capturing the moment of celebration. I like the shot, but struggle with the compromise involved. Are the climbers the focus of the shot, or is the magnificent background? I want a closer crop to see the celebration more clearly and at the same time, a much wider view to see them in context. Anyway, I played around with the composition and levels a bit in a workshop. Hope you approve.

Yes, one can see the joy and pride in their faces. A wonderful feeling - having climbed a mountain, even though "only" from Diavolezza" ;-))
An optimistic and appealing photo which gives high spirits!

Hi Latiff

They look and act like Swiss, good eye to capture the moment of triumph! Never mind that you missed the kissing and hugging! I know this part of Switzerland very well. During college we went every winter there for skiing from Zurich. After school I often spent the weekend in winter there skiing as well. It's nice but expensive. Thanks for sharing, I really would like to go there and race again down the mountains - very exciting feeling. Great action shot with high sharpness and vibrant colors

very beautiful capture of the moment and scenery. I like the contradt this shot give - the bright colours of the ladies attire and the soft calm view of the clouds and sky of the mountain hues in the background.
