Photographer’s Note

Autumn means end of the nice life on the Alp for the many cows of Appenzell, they must get back to the farm and get used to the discipline again, such as here the cattle show parade that takes place in each village these days, culminating in the regional capital Appenzell on october 6th.

tja.....die sollen erneut diszipliniert werden, nachdem die einwandfrei und gelassen auf die Bergen gewandert haben.
meine Frage: produzieren die nur Milch...oder sind die auch zu beissen??? meiner Meinung nach sollen die ziemlich lecker sein...

Hi JY,

the light treatment and the sharpness here are superb. There is a nice tridimensional feeling thanks to that. At 11:45 the light should be harsh and the image reading terrible but here you prove that can be solved with some skills and a good equipment. Great shot!

Bonjour, JY. Une diagonale vachement réussie qui contraste bien avec le blanc de la façade en arrière-plan. Un peu dommage que l'oreille de la 0149 vienne cacher les beaux yeux de sa voisine. Une crise de jalousie soudaine sans doute.

I like the diagonal arrangement, but all the cows are refusing to stand to attention. You really should train them better. Now if they were sheep.......!

This is a great shot for midday. You have handled the harsh lighting wonderfully giving us nice details and rich colors. Your composition is great with the line of cows creating a diagonal leading the eye into the scene.

Dommage que l'oreille au plan rapproché cache l'oeil de la première vache.
L'image est agréable, munie d'une belle profondeur et d'une éxcellente nétteté.

An attractive and humorous composition of these cows lined up for inspection. The white house at the end with its typically steep roof makes an apt backdrop to the scene. Thanks for sharing.

Le jour du marché! ou le concours de beauté?.
L'image est top, avec le contraste de couleurs entre la facade et le roux des vaches. Image d'une belle scène paysanne bien agréable et bien cadrée.

Bonjour Jean-Yves,

Alors tout le monde attend le départ de la parade. J'ai repéré la deuxième vache (à partir de la gauche) qui t'a bien dans le collimateur! Une coquette.Tu trouves finalement sans problème une grande inspiration dans ton bout de pays... Tu ne sembles ne plus apprécier de voyager tous les jours comme avant!
