Piz Bernina Photo | TrekEarth

Photographer’s Note

This image shows the "Piz Bernina", the highest peak in eastern Switzerland with 4049m. It is the white peak above the main part of the glacier tongue, this glacier is called "vadret de Morteratsch". Between the "Piz Bernina" and the foreground cairn you can see the Piz Morteratsch that has "only" 3751m.

The ideal weather conditions are supposed to result from black magic performed by a well known TE member...

Well composed image with wonderful balance between the cairn in the foreground and the glacier and it's peaks. The cairn is precariously perched, so it's just as well the cows with bells on don't go that high! ;D

Belle composition très lumineuse et équilibrée avec ces pierres à droite, je suppose que tu as ajouté une pierre à l'édifice pour marquer ton passage devant ce grandiose pov montagneux.

une petite montagne de cailloux en avant-plan d'une plus grosse enneigée et glacée
Impressionné par la pureté de l'air qui te pemet d'avoir une image très lumineuse et d'une clarté splendide
très bien cadré et un bon choix de f:16 pour une DOF profonde

nice to see Switzarland's highest peak. Great clarity, I can see every possible corner through your photo. Inclusion of the cairn in foreground is fantastic idea. ( Is it a trek route? ) great way to capture such a beautiful scene. Tfs.

Großartig, wirklich großartig! Ein Bergtag aus dem Bilderbuch! Mit dem Bildaufbau erreichst Du eine wunderbare Tiefe und den Eindruck für den Betrachter, er sei dort. Ein faszinierendes Foto - nicht nur wegen des Motivs!

Bonjour, JY. Le cairn à l'avant-plan est très bien placé, laissant la place aux vedettes de l'arrière-plan. Un image partagée entre la roche et la glace avec une bonne exposition des deux composantes. Je reste un peu sur ma faim, je m'attendais au moins à trouver un WS avec l'homme qui chasse les nuages.

Superbe composition, avec le ciel d'un bleu profond, le glacier et ce 1er plan de cailloux, sans oublier les pierres empilées idéalement placées à droite de l'image.

Exactement le style de compo que j'aprécie.
Pour trouver une petite critique, je pense qu'en te couchant le cairn se serai mieux détaché dans le ciel.

Your composition is great here with the cairn adding depth and balance to the scene. The glacier creates a nice diagonal through the shot creating a sense of direction for the scene. The lighting and colors are great as is the photo's sharpness and DOF. The deep blue sky provides a nice backdrop for the shot.

Un bien joli panorama avec un premier plan sympa, c est bien equilibre mais pour ma part je le trouve un peu trop present et j aurais peut etre opte pour un format un peu plus panoramique en coupant legerement sous la pierre plate.Question de gout je pense.

En tout cas j imagine que ce fut une bein belle journee.

Et bien, nous pouvons profiter de plusieurs sommets pour le prix d'une seule photographie ! J'aime beaucoup l'avant plan très net et qui rend presque petites, les montagnes de l'arrière plan.

Le tas de roches plates en premier plan me fait penser aux inukshuk (inuksuit) que l'on retrouve dans mon vaste pays... Ca servait generalement a reperer les caches de nourriture, mais dans ton cas, il doit y avoir une reserve de rouge en-dessous... :-P)

Une image equilibree, entre le premier plan et le Piz, avec cette lumiere portant ton matricule.

the highest peak?! good job to get up there and share us this wonderful view photo. the blue sky is so clear and those snow mountains are just "not far away". i think thats the main reason for hiking, get up there and enjoy the view you won't see "down here". well done!

Bonjour Jean Yves,
c'est une photo de montagne magnifique, dans laquelle tu as traité avec maîtrise la profondeur de champ pour obtenir une grande netteté dans le cairn et les cailloux de l'avant-plan et aussi dans la vue du glacier et des sommets dans l'arrière-plan.
Et bien sûr, la lumière et la couleur sont superbes.
Une belle composition, avec une vue à couper le souffle.

PS : je ne sais pas ce qui s'est passé sur ma dernière photo, à gauche il y a un peu de bruit et pas à droite, et j'ai appliqué le NeatImage.

Cette photo m'inspire par sa composition. Ce cairn au premier plan donne de la force à l'image et permet au regard de pénétrer à l'intérieur de la photo.
La netteté est très bonne, s'étendant sur les différents plans de l'image.

The stones are arranged like that generally aftre a prayer and making a wish..atleast in the high Himalayas..

This one has taken me back to my trip at 17000ft back in march

This is really amazing! You took this from Munt Pers? I was up here on the same day ... Sept 20! I remember this cairn exactly. Did you by any chance see a baseball cap with Vitoronox logo along the trail? I dropped it along the way up. Cheers. Regards. Latiff.
