Photographer’s Note

This is a view of Yvorne where very nice white wine comes from. Behind, you can see the Tour d'Ai and the Leysin ski fields. I took this with the Sigma as I still don't have a new polarizer for my 18-200.

We stopped here on the way to go skiing at the Col des Mosses. At lunchtime we met up with PixelTerror (more like BalloonTerror that day) as he was at the balloon festival in nearby Château d'Oex. As there were so many cars trying to enter Château d'Oex we ended up having lunch together at the nearby village of Etivaz. And what did we have? A cheese fondue accompanied by a bottle of Yvorne wine :-)

Ceci est une vue d'Yvorne d'où vient un excellent vin blanc. Derrière, vous pouvez distinguer la Tour d'Ai et les pistes de ski de Leysin. J'ai pris cette photo avec le Sigma car je n'ai toujours pas de nouveau filtre polarisant pour mon 18 - 200.

Nous nous sommes arrêtés ici en route pour faire du ski au Col des Mosses. A midi, nous avons rencontré PixelTerror (plutôt BallonTerror ce-jour-ci) car il était au festival des montgolfières à Château d'Oex qui se trouve à moins de 20km de là. Comme il y avait trop de voitures entrant Château d'Oex, nous avons terminé par prendre le repas du midi ensemble au village proche d'Etivaz. Et qu'est ce que nous avons mangé ? Une fondue de fromage accompagné d'une bouteille d'Yvorne :-)

Hi Nikki ;-)
You know how to place a wonderful sky in a landscape and make it not to dominant in the frame. The reddish foreground is contrasting very nice against that blue, but more important the middle section with the snowpeaks as a kind of barrier between those two parts....very nice.

Hello Nikki,

Looks great! The atmosphere is delightful; it seems so relaxing and peaceful. The foreground is ideally dominated by the vines, the village fills the middle and the snowy peaks offer a towering vertical backdrop. The sky provides a certain positive radiance throughout the image. What a beautiful angle of colour, the red/blue combination which I see in many of your shots is quite evident here. Sublime sharpness, clarity and depth. This really is another stunner. Hope you enjoyed your lunch, it sounds like you had a great time.

Bonjour Nikki.
Superbe prise de vue d'Yvorne et Leysin, ou tu as visiblement eu très beau temps. La vigne fait bien le lien avec ta note pour y avoir bu son vin. J'aime bien les nuages qui se fondent dans le ciel comme un bon vin sous le palais, surtout après une bonne fondue, (j’en ai manger une aussi avec du vrai fromage Suisse, délicieuse). Même au Québec je trouve du fromage a fondue.

Salut Nikki,
Tout a fait d'accord avec ton titre ;-)
La lumiere rechauffe les teintes du vignoble et donne un beau contraste avec le bleu profond du ciel,j'aime bien la texture fine des nuages echevelés...
T'as vu,on pourrait avoir une finale france/suisse a l'open d'Australie...allez Jo!

¿Todavía no tienes polarizador para tu 18-200?
Vaya... en cualquier caso eso siempre es un buen motivo para usar un 10-20mm... aunque creo que siempre hay que encontrar un pretexto para sacarle provecho.

Seeing the colors,my first thought was "it`s Australia"A well composed photo with this vineyard in the foreground and the "snowy mountans" in the far distanece.Wonderful light and great contrast.
