The Swiss Alps seen from up above. I'm saying 'bird eye's view', but I think there are not that many birds going this high - only the ones made of steel and aluminium.

I first thought this was the Eiger, but Bibi helped me with a wonderful workhop! There you will find all the names and it's actually the Matterhorn!!

And this is actually my only photograph I have ever taken of Switzerland!!
I've been there before, but that was a long time ago and way before the digital era of photography. And the focus at that point was on skiing and not photography.

This photograph is taken from a plane going to Uganda. Most planes heading for Africa actually pass the Alps over Switzerland. In that sense, I've been above Swiss already more often than I've been on the ground over there!
But you have to be lucky with the weather to get this view.

NB: They don't speak Dutch is Switzerland...

Not being able to communicate in Dutch in Switzerland is a serious flaw of that country !
No wonder so many people in the world hesitate strongly any idea of emigrating to that land of clock and milk chocolate...

.................
Wonderful shot thru the 'plane filter' window...
(I wonder if any manufacturer of lens filters thought about the idea ?)

Those foggy blues and rusty browns...

Man... I'm yours on this one...

Watch out that Uganda stuff in there, Dennis.
I've heard (from my janitor) that the cannibalism in there is well and kicking...
Don't let them catch you, brother... :-)))

Hi Dennis,
I wanted to start writing in French, but I suppose you prefer that I stick to English! ;o)
Thanks for drawing my attention to this photo. It's a beautiful aerial view of the Alps and the quality is quite good given the fact that it's shot through a plane window. Your guess was pretty good as I see that you've selected the Valais Region, but I'm afraid this is not the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau peaks. :o((
It took me some time to recognize some of the peaks (funny how changing the POV, makes things look totally different) and I posted a WS with a few names... the good news is that you've got Switzerland's landmark in your photo: the Matterhorn! :o))
And even more funny is the fact that the bottom part of your photo actually shows part of Italy too... wow! two countries in a single photo, but they don't speak Dutch in either one. :o))
Cheers.
Bibi

Hi Dennis!
I'm a fan of Switzerland, its mountains, its milk and chocolate!
I was fortunate to visit in 2005 and, most of all, to ski on the slopes of the Gornergrat, where the Matterhorn was always there... a mountain, I might say it, I'm in love with!
I also love "bird's eye views" and this one of yours is very impressive and shows to me my dear Matterhorn!
It's such a great POV, with real colors and excellent sharpness!
TFS - Congratulations!

Hi Dennis,
Funny and unusual view on the Alps. Not easy at all to recognise the Matterhorn from above :o))
Cheers

Hallo Dennis,

Goed gedaan, bedankt!

Groeten,
John.

Hi Dennis
Wonderful view and beautiful photo
Well done
Best regards
Nick

Hi Dennis,
stunning view from up there! Great resolution of details and fine cold colour of the vast horizon! The mountains look to be so tiny but I know how huge they are in actual fact!
Thank you my friend for sharing.
Greetings from Greece,
Athanasios.

Hello Dennis,

Hello Dennis! Pretty impressive and it is about time you touch ground again :) We are pretty friendly and try to speak English if we can but there is also French, German, Italian and Rumantsch ... your choice! At least I am friendly and it is not seldom that I hang over a map with some lost tourist or trying to find the next train they have missed etc. but sometimes I hide and run away ... Very nice tones you have and you always have me on your side when it comes to blues ... and flying of course. You were lucky with a view like this one. Very often the north is under a fog/cloud layer or the other way around, depending on a certain wind. This is good, I like it (and not just because I am Swiss). Barbara.

Hi Dennis,
Quite interesting picture, you can really see really far from that height. The weather is clear even on valleys. And you can see also Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau peaks under the 'Bernese Oberland' of Bibis WS, although it's hard to say which is which from this distance.

Hi Dennis

A superb aerial view of the Swiss alps, with splendid sharpness, & nice blue & white colour tones. Tfs!

Vu d'en bas ou vu d'en haut, cette pyramide naturelle est tout aussi impressionnantes...
