Photographer's Note
another weekend well spent skiing in the mighty Swiss Alps. This time it was at the Lauchernalp in the Lötschental, a small winding valley in the canton Valais. Snow conditions and weather at an altitude of 2500m where perfect. Seen here is the small resort of Lauchernalp, a place where mostly holiday chalets are scattered among the steep hillside. The skiing area goes from around 2200m right up to 3000m, in the background one of the chair-lifts that haul skier up the mountains.

The effect the skis in FG have on this shot is amazing, Daniel - they transform it from a nice peaceful snowy scene to one that promises action as you speed through the frame. Perfectly arranged and composed here (except, possibly, for the red ski poles visible at right) with a great sense of slope and steepness conveyed by the tracks and the houses. Where is the actual trail here? Surely it doesn't take you into the village itself...

Hello Daniel - Your wintry shot looks so inviting, how nice it would be to step into the picture and enjoy the mountain atmosphere and activities. It is so hot here a little cold weather would make a welcome change! I like this, the way you have used the ski's as a lead in line is creative and adds a nice splash of colour to the scene. Lovely. Warm regards rosemary

Like the idea of the using the ski in the foreground. Gives the perspective and leads the eye into the picture. Looks like you did have fun :)

hi Daniel,
I really love these points of view that you get from the mountainous regions, they help me see what the place looks like (beautiful!) and they also help me get the sense of actually being there, as your captures always have a unique POV with great depth and scale. As I am slightly afraid of heights, this gives a great sense of being here, with a slight feeling of dizziness :)
Great shot!
All the best

Hello Daniel, beautiful picture showing the slopes of Valais with the timid presence of the typical chalets and of course the great Head skis in frontline.
A gorgeous winter picture!
Have a great weekend enjoy the mountains!

Hello Daniel,
You have thought this out well, using the well positioned skis as a guider, linking nicely with the snow-flattened path. There is a fine sense of depth, good light management and excellent, textural details.
My son has just left for The Alps, today. He is a keen snow boarder. He's sure to enjoy the snow and the camaraderie with friends.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Daniel,
Never hurts to have your camera with you, even while skiing..this makes for a spontaneous moment and a fun picture. I don't know if you purposely placed the ski's where they are, but it adds to the wonderful perspective on this slope. It definitely has a sense of adventure with this composition. Nice exposure too, it's always tough to manage so much white space, very well done!
Have a great week.
Cheers,
Jason

Hi Daniel
smart use of the 18 mm focal length on this shot.
you're able to get a deep scene, and a unique tall perspective all into one.
excellent skyline too, with the white clouds to compliment the blues.
Now i wish I were out there skiing!
cheers
