My first picture taken in 2014 from blue water “lock” in the natural reserve of the Regional Nature Park Pfyn-Finges. The lock allows the owner to control the density of the water flow in the “Bisse” or irrigation canal.
The Pfyn-Finges forest has officially been designated as a protected area since 1997, having been listed in the KLN Inventory (landscapes and natural monuments of national importance) as early as 1963.
The Pfyn-Finges forest is not only one of the largest pine forests in the Alps but it is also home to one of the most significant protected meadowlands in Switzerland with an unique and varied fauna and flora.
