Photographer’s Note
Defences put in place to protect walkers on the high path from Saas-Fee to Grachen from the ice & rock falls from the Bider glacier.
I remember crossing this stream on an old plank/wire -rope bridge which was destroyed by an ice-fall and then again when just the steel tube was in place (subsequently crushed by a rock fall in 2004)
The crossing is approx. 5km from Fee at about 2200m.
These safety improvements cost CHF 500,000 !
