the easy way up, a photo from Valais, West

after last times picture of the steep hike up the Bettmerhorn (I have added an other version of that photo in this times workshop. I think the steepness of the climb comes even better across in this one) here is the easy way up for the more laid back of less able gents. The cable car from Bettmeralp at 1900m up to the top of the Bettmerhorn at 2900m takes about 6 minutes. There is a restaurant with a great terasse with stunning views at the top.

I believe that on my recent cable car photo you mentioned Swiss versions that would put it to shame; I see now how right you were! This would be quite a dizzying journey. The height is well captured and expressed, against a really deep and interesting sky. The colors throughout are fascinating, with a strange cast to them, like the odd light you sometimes get with an approaching storm. Very attractive shot.

Hello Daniel,
The cable cars are what makes this view different from a lot of other views of mountainsides. The clouds are very nicely shaped and the gondolas and wires fill some of the empty space. The line made by the mountainside is not a straight diagonal but creates a diagonal impression. I like the balance between the blue and yellowish areas.

Awesome viewpoint pointing upwards and wonderful comp in brilliant detail. Lovely how those tiny cars just pop out in mid air glueing our eyes there. Great perspective too as we are invited to enjoy the vast scenic landscape and what lies ahead and i feel the small portion of distant mountain at the bottom right is a real bonus as it gives us the sense of deeper distace to the image. And this has such great contrast to the blue sky, Another fine shot my friend. Great effort, Congrats.

Lovely simple view of earth and sky...I love the texture of the rock offset by the blue of the sky, and the clouds. Even though I don't normally like tilted photos. it works here as it adds to the effect of heights and dizziness. I just noticed the blurry outline of the cable car...I have the same problem when I resize photos. I wonder how to overcome it?

Hello Daniel,

You're capturing well this landscape bya good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the steep mountain with rocks and cable car which is running the altitude. The whole is harmonized well by beautiful color combination of rock and sky. And, the mountain's ridgeline at right under draws out an additional good effect in this image.

I really am enjoying this series you are doing here, thanks for sharing these. images I would never see otherwise. This is again class, the cable cars look tiny, offering a great sense of height and scale, and the colours are beautiful. I cannot see a cable car without thinking of a James Bond film. this is certainly one of those photos that must be enlarged from the small thumbnails to be fully appreciated.
there is a strong contrast in the blues and greens, and we really do get a sense of scale with the railcars up above.
the white clouds give a bit of pop with the atmosphere too.
this one works well visually for me.
