Photographer’s Note

I did recently rework this image for a "contest" at Outback Photo.

As suggested by Seb I cropped a bit on the top. Additionally I've played around with contrast (mainly whiter fog) and used another contrast curve with a mask to accentuate some details.

- old note ----

Pre-sunrise view from a mountain top called Belchenfluh down into the fog ridden "Swiss plateau".

Each fall and winter, cold air trapped between the mountain ranges of Alps and Jura forms a quite persistant sea of fog at about 800-900m. Down below, it makes for dull and chilly days, even more frustrating considering that above the fog sunny days with great far view are the rule.

Luckily switzerland is a hilly country and relieve is often just a few minutes drive away. The location for this shot was a 1100m hill-top of the Jura mountains, less than 10km from Olten.
