Photographer’s Note
The first rays of a new day are touching the wave peaks on the sea of fog covering the "Swiss Plateau".
Each fall and winter, cold air trapped between the mountain ranges of Alps and Jura forms a quite persistant sea of fog at about 800-900m. Down below, it makes for dull and chilly days, even more frustrating considering that above the fog sunny days with great far view are the rule.
Luckily switzerland is a hilly country and relieve is often just a few minutes drive away. The location for this shot was a 1100m hill-top of the Jura mountains, less than 10km from Olten.
Sorry for copying most of the note from here, but it was the same place the same day :-)

Hi Adrian,
What a wonderful sky, but is it the sky ! The use of B&W and the strong contrasts give a slightly confusing picture. What really is above what ?

Very unusual, but I like the creativity and fact that it is so different. The use of black & white is very good also, adding to the feeling of mystery. Well done!

Hello,
De superbes silhouettes devant ce brouillard.
Le choix du N/B est bien vu et le cadrage impecable.
Bravo

Hi Adrian!
The effect you've created here is stunning! B&W works here perfectly! Good composition - it's fine you've focused on the sky leaving the ground in the lower part just as it was necessary.
Cheers@!

Salut,
Excellent l'effet, on se demande si les nuages sont en dessus ou en dessous, très bonne idée.

Here aswell, as with your other pictures, high contrast between foreground plate where you can only see the silhouette and the sea of clouds in the background that are the actual players on this picture. I think the silhouette adds to this picture's character, good contrast.
The clouds do really look smooth. I like it a lot. And again this is a place where you could just sit and watch. Have a picnic.

Hi Adrian!
A tree led me in front of an ocean of cotton... Surrealistic pillow! Nowhere would I have fancied an image so close to the clouds upon which trodding angels beckon to children. The perspective is dazzling. B&W is great, at least to complete the amazement. Magical mystery! Hippy pips, hurrray!!! F'

Hi Adrian, I had several times the same experience as you are describing and showing us here. Once the fog is coming in i just have to drive up to the highest mountain in Baselland and voila ... Your framing is superb and the single tree and the house gives a great contrast.
Regards, Peter
