For a change, another oldie... it's not too old but definitely comes from the pre-digital era!

I have searched TE for some photos of Engelberg - not the mountains but the town itself, and didn't find what I was looking for. So I thought to post this shot.

This is a scanned photo. The quality of the film was not too good, and the camera was rather bad (with only automatic settings and a mind of its own), but this shot turned out to be of a more or less good quality, so I decided to scan it and post now.

I don't know what this building is (maybe a hotel or a restaurant?) Those who live in Engelberg should know, perhaps!

I am not sure that you can judge any technical qualities of this photo (colours etc) but maybe the composition...?

At that time I did not bother about making any of my photos "public", so all of them were taken only for my "family album" (including this one) - just for good memories of travelling.

I was staying in Engelberg 3 days, with a friend at his place, and he showed me some of the area (as much as we could see by walking around). But I took so few photos!:( and most of them are of not a good quality.

Concerning PP work after scanning: not much except for some noise removal (the sky and mountains) and sharpening. And also removing the digital datestamp.

wahoo photo 10 years before. Even though trhough scanning, the color is still vivid. Both sided can be cropped ? -- car front at left side and building at right side ?

Hi Elena,
A very good scan and a very attractive view of the daily life here in this beautiful surrounding. There seems to be a warm sunshine over the outdoor restaurant (or cafeteria), still there seems to be rain hanging over the mountain top.

Sharp and detailed exposition of this old place, the light conditions are wonderful, the resulted colours look great.

Hi Elena,

some of my colleagues went to Engelberg some years ago and they had nice memories of it. The only thing I can say is that coming from a post-digital era the picture seems to have kept its sharpness and that colors have remain vivid...and it gives me the occasion to see how Engelberg is.

Hello Elena,
If you had taken this photo today, I can imagine you would have kept the car on the left out. Otherwise it's still an enchanting view of the cosy café, the fine old-style building and the lovely hills. A fine scan with well preserved colours.

I always like this Swiss mountains small towns and their atmosphere. Your photo reminds me of my lovely holidays there.
Typical alpine sky but you got a blessed sunray that lit this square with the people at the café. I think the quality is good enough for a scan, I like the colours which look like my old slides. A nice and good work.

Hi Elena,
I think town of Engelberg itself is less charming than many other Swiss resorts, as architecture there is mix from different eras. But here you have quite nice corner. And decent light mixing sunshine and wet looking clouds. I haven't been there with a digital camera either, maybe next summer...

This is a quality scan - all the colours have been retained. Other than some of the vegetation in the foreground being a little out of focus I can see no fault. It is not possible to go back and reshoot older photos and they were not taken for the purpose of being shown to the world - and so I feel they have to be viewed a little differently. Tfs, Marlene

I know Engelberg very well from several visits.Very good composition and fine colors.I think you could have cropped the car.But an interesting fotojob.TFS.

Hej Elena,
the car to the left is not easy to do much about. Apart from that I like this photo. It looks very idyllic with the (old?) house and the misty mountains in the background. A sunny day in beautiful surroundings, great summer atmosphere ! I`m impressed of the technical quality of the scan. I have a lot of old travel photos from nearly 50 countries, but most are quite poor quality. Very well done my friend!

Un bien joli souvenir d'un village typiquement suisse! Quel bonheur ce doit être de s'y prélasser ou d'attaquer l'ascension des montagnes environnantes!
