This bridge is located near the junction of the river and the Vierwaldstättersee, or Lake of the Four Forest Cantons (also known as Lake Lucerne). The bridge bends as it leaves the shore, then angles across the river past a stone Wasserturm (Water Tower) that is believed to have once served as the lucerna, or lighthouse, after which the town was named.

The Kapellbrücke--"Chapel Bridge" in English--was built in 1333. As you cross its 200-meter length, you'll see 120 captioned triangular paintings from the early 1500s that chronicle the city's history. The paintings feature St. Mauritius and St. Leodegar, the patron saints of Lucerne.

The Kapellbrücke was nearly destroyed by a 1993 fire, and much of what stands today is an excellent restoration (or reproduction, if you're a cynic or uncompromising realist).

NOTE: If you're prone to arachnophobia, you may need to wear a hat and walk quickly when crossing the bridge. Large spiders have been known to spin impressive webs in the Kapellbrücke's rafters--and that's something else you won't read in the tourist brochures!
This is certainly the most famous bridge in Switzerland and this view is a classic.

Non seulement sommes nous voisins, mais avec précisément le même sujet!!! C'est trop rigolo!

À juger par ta photo, le "troupeau de cygnes" était plus peuplé à l'époque... Point de vue intéressant qui prend avantage de la lumière. J'aime aussi la tonalité des tons terreux et le bleu du ciel.

Demain, on publie un truc sur Florence... :-P)

This is a superb coincidence in the gallery, two Kapellbrücke photos neighbouring each other.
The other is form a different angle and taken in a different time of the day, but this POV is really completing the other. Now i've seen the brige in all possibly descriptive conditions. TFS,

Vue tres sympa avec un tres bon cadrage qui met bien en valeur ce fameux pont.
Tres bon travail de scan aussi: les valeurs et les contrastes sont bien controles.

un trés beau travail de scan d'une photo qui nous rajeuni pas 18 ans c'est l'époque ou j'avais arrêté la photo, une ville qui mérite d'étre posté et pas suffisamment a mon gout, avec ce célébre pont, joli cadrage

Joli apperçu sur ce pont célèbre, je note un bon point de vue sur la ville.
Une image bien scannée quoique je ne m'était pas apperçu de suite que c'était une image argentique.
