This series of photographs is offering a short journey around Switzerland, a landlocked country geographically divided between the Alps, the Swiss Plateau and the Jura, bordering with France, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and Italy.
Switzerland (the Swiss Confederation) consists of following 20 cantons (states) and 6 half-cantons: Aargau, Appenzell Ausserhoden*, Appenzell Innerhoden*, Basel Landschaft*, Basel Stadt*, Bern, Fribourg, Geneva, Glarus, Graubünden, Jura, Lucerne, Neuchatel, Nidwalden*, Obwalden*, Schaffhausen, Schwyz, Solothurn, St. Gallen, Thurgau, Ticino, Uri, Valais, Vaud, Zug and Zurich (*=half-canton).
From each canton I’ll post 2 photos and from each half-canton 1 photo, total 46 photographs.
The Canton of Lucerne is located in the north-central Switzerland. It is neighboring cantons are Bern, Zug, Schwyz, Nidwalden and Obwalden. The capital city is Lucerne.
This photo shows the famous wooden Chapel Bridge, part of Reuss River and the Jesuit Church.
The first Chapel Bridge, covered wooden footbridge spanning diagonally across the Reuss River, was originally erected in 14th century. It is the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe. The Chapel Bridge almost burned down in the night on August 18, 1993 but shortly thereafter, the Chapel Bridge was reconstructed and again opened to the public on April 14, 1994.
The Jesuit Church is the first large sacral Baroque church built north of the Alps. It is a beautiful and historical site, emphasizing the Catholic tradition of veneration of saints and visual culture. When the Jesuits brought the Counter Reformation to Lucerne in the 17th century; the elaborate church, dedicated to Francis Xavier, was constructed between 1666 and 1677. Architects from Italy and Austria built what many believe to be the most beautiful Baroque church in Switzerland.
Today, both the Chapel Bridge and the Jesuit Church are a major tourist attraction in Lucerne, nice place to visit.
Lucerne is located 110km east from Bern and 52km southwest from Zurich.

Hello Miro. Also, this photo shows the Switzerland of the best. The view along the covered wooden bridge to the church is well chosen. The text adds the perfect photo. Well done. Rgds wolfgang.

We share the same subject today. Kapellbrücke looks just great. You have the difficult light well in control, showing enough detail also on the bridge visitors. Flowers had different colours last year, I see.

Hi dear Miro, how are you?
Another greatly impressive shot! Yes, I have been there around 20 years ago, my memory recover vividly. Good idea to close up this attractive wooden bridge via widefocus appraoch. Floweres, water, swans, church and mountains, all in one shot. Very light and colorful touch is marvelous! Very well considered shot, that should be highly appreciated. Thanks for your sharing with finest work and have a good day!

Despite a slight lack of sharpness, this photo is beautiful. The framing is cleverly done. The light, colors, sharpness and depth are good. Bravo.
Have a nice day

Not a vantage point often seen of the bridge, but it makes for a well composed image and is nice to see the other side, featuring the church instead of the tower. The tourists add that nice human element as they video the passing swans. A beautiful photo for such a beautiful city, well done Miro!

When I was 7 and 14, I visit (with my parents)
Engelberg, so we visit also Luzern.
I will alway remember this (perhaps the most
beautiful) bridge. I also remember that my
parents bought the first smurf for my, but that
is another story.
Picture is taken from a great point of view:
the lower position makes it emphasizes extra
the brigde in the picture. Composition and
light mangement are also great.

I love the framing as the eye hovers between the stunning domes and the bridge as two strong focals here. This is indeed a splendid shot lending to an overall discrete & delightful photographic impact. There's an incredible depth and perspective achieved, taken from the most strategic view point and closeness. Truly delicious to see on how the eye is lead so gently all the way and around the scenic lake. The colours and lighting are so subtle and the blue sky and water sheen split so superbly. A delightful and well presented shot. TFS, Congrats

You're capturing well this place by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the old wooden bridge with the tasteful structure and the setting of lovely flowers. It's also impressive in beautiful church of backdrop. And, swimming swans on the river draw out peaceful atmosphere.
