Photographer’s Note

To contrast with my previous photo, here is one taken in the rain. These sculptures can be found in front of the Giger Museum in the beautiful walled town of Gruyeres. Photography is not allowed inside the museum but the outside artwork is for all to see.

HR Giger is famous for desiging the creatures in the film Alien and won an Oscar for this. The creatures and Oscar statuette can be seen in the museum.

Goggle Baby is the name of this sculpture when isolated.

Pour contraster avec mon image précédente, voici une prise sous la pluie. Ces sculptures se trouvent devant le musée Giger dans le beau village de Gruyères. Il n'est pas possible de prendre des photos à l'intérieur du musée mais à l'extérieur; pas de problème.

HR Giger est célèbre pour avoir crée les créatures d'Alien pour lequelle il a gagné un Oscar. On peut voir les créatures et la statuette dans le musée.

Goggle Baby est le nom d'un de ces sculptures.

Nikki,
Even these statue/artwork has a resembrance of the alien creature we see in movies. For all we know alien don't really look anything like it but a beautiful creatures, That's what I believe :). This is a very good impression of the artwork with excellent details and clarity, I like that it's was in the rain with water drops make it different. Thanks

Un très bon détails saisi de manière très dynamique ici. Ces petits bonshommes semblent tout de même assez menaçant au même titre que l'Alien du film !!

Hola Nikki.

¿Quieres decirme que Oscar es una creación de HR Giger?... eso explicaría muchas cosas.

Bueno, no sé que decir, le tengo mucho respeto a sus creaciones, a Alien, a Aliens y a Alien 3. Y también por el toque personal que les das a fotos como ésta (sí, hablo de la omnipresente diagonal de tus fotos).

Hi Nikki.
Very effective close-up with tight crop to make this image have impact. I wonder if the tilt is in the original or whether you took the shot like that. The exposure of the detail and the highlights is very good, incredibly sharp and smooth at the same time. I found your note interesting, too.

A clever composition and framing using the tight crop, the slight tilt makes the shot all the more interesting. I think the exposure is quite right for thse subjects, the slightly blown out highlights are a good effect here.

J'ai vu des reportages sur le travail de Giger, notamment sur le tournage d'Alien.
C'est ici assez symbolique, je pense, de son oeuvre, j'aime bien ces créatures belles et inquiétantes.

Je trouve ces sculptures très agréable à regarder et d'une grande finesse..il semble manquer un morceau sur celle du centre...ou fait intentionnellement ?
Belle présentation de ces êtres d'un autre monde...
