Photographer’s Note
Fribourg's highlight is the High Gothic Cathédrale St-Nicolas with its soaring buttressed tower. The tower is 73m high. The cathedral was built over foundation of an older church which dated from the year of Fribourg's foundation in 1157. Construction works on the present structure were begun in 1283 and took more than two centuries to complete. In the foreground is the clock tower of Hôtel de Vile, the highly photogenic town hall. The structure dates from 1522.
