Photographer’s Note
Popular Sports in Switzerland include the ever present football (the country organizes the european championship next year, which explains why all roads are currently under repair in the country...) and tennis (ever heard of Federer ?), but also more alpine sports like ski (although the Swiss like other alpine nations could't stop the Austrian domination) and ice hockey.
Ice hockey is a serious business here and teams compete to attract the best players of the world elite, which sometimes gives the impression Swiss liga matches are played between Russia and Sweden or Finland... but as you can see on this photo the young local generation is working hard in the streets to get to the required level, here you see them training in the lower town of Fribourg, possibly one day they'll join the local elite team HC Fribourg Gothéron...
Current leader of the LNA is Bern, followed by GE Servette (Geneve) and Kloten Flyers (Zürich).

Hello Jean-Yves,
A charming daily life composition that shows off the action well. It is good to also be able to see the surroundings. Very good clarity.

Amicalement, Christian

Hi Jean-Yves,
Nice snowless winter scene. I like framing with the boys in fg, building on the right and scene opening downhill to the city. Lazy weekend feeling with calm brown tones.

Hi Jean Yves, beautiful image, with the 2 players well captured during the "match".
godo quality and excellent POV to have aslo a view on a Fribourg street.
Hockey it's played also in North Italy, and it's a traditional sport specially in Milan, where it was "imported" at the end of the XIX century; in Milan it was built the first stadium just for the Ice Hockey (the Piranesi, that it's still exsist, but it wasn't used from a decade and it will be dismantle in the future) in the 20's.
The Milan teams all along the 30's and to the beginnings of the 60's where at top levels in Europe, winning many times the most important European Cup of that time, the Spengler Cup (played every year i think in Davos).
Milan 2 most famous club, the HC Milano and the Diavoli Milano, played tournès all around Europe winning all the matches for several years.
Then from the 70's and all along the 80's the hockey lost importance and fans in Milan, and just in the beginnings of the 90's Milan back on the top of Hockey in Italy, with the same 2 clubs of decades before.
Today the HC Vipers Milano are the top team in Italy and one of the top in Europe, they won 5 of the past 6 championship, ceveral local cups and played the final of the Continental Cup and were classified several times 3th and 4th in the Champions Cup. Today there are 2 arenas for ice hockey, the Agorà, that is the new Ice Palace of Milano, and the Forum, a multisport building, where during the playoff matches there were really often a sold-out with more than 14.000 people.

Salut JY,
vincent

Salut Jean Yves
Good daily life scene with a nice low shooting angle & pov. I like the 'T' shaped dynamics in the compo of the wall at right & goalkeeper . Bon travail, et merci pour le partage!

Great shot of the street life, showing the kids playing. This is a very similar scene to what you can see in Canada, because this is a hockey mad country too, with every boy dreaming of playing like a professional. Good timing to catch the ball in mid air too. Nicely done!

Hi JY. You could see the same sort of scene around my neighborhood in any cul-de-sac during the summer as well. The light looks a bit flat but you didn't let you hold you back. For some real fun I would have taken a few steps forward behind the net and gone full wide for some in your face shots. Nice work JY.

Hello Jean Yves,
You've submitted a good action shot, capturing the shooter in his follow through, and the puck in the air. An informative note complements the package. Federer is indeed a Swiss product, but don't forget, Martina Hingis, alias "Swiss Miss."

Bulent

Nice catch Jean Yves!
I love that you caught the ball in mid air.
Also a nice view of the city in the background.
What is the reason for the bright area on the back of the goal, reflections or..?
Harry
