Photographer's Note
Scanned from slide film, taken in 1991.
Inspired by Daniels (marabu61) mention of Ektachrome slides, I thought I’d revive one more of mine to post. Of the cities I’ve visited in Switzerland I’d say that Fribourg is my favorite. As the city sits on an internal border, the languages of French, German and even a small percentage of Italian are spoken, making this a unique and diverse location.
The old town is without doubt one of the cities highlights and offers scenic views in just about every direction.. I could spend a great deal of time there enjoying the pure natural and man-made beauty!
I think it goes without saying that I’ve surrendered image quality through the last week utilizing many old photo’s. I hope it’s reminded all that have viewed of their own travels and adventures, along with the advances in photography from years gone by. I’m certainly not claiming to have made any ground breaking contributions, just a simple and fun look back. Thanks for the support, much appreciated!

Hello Jason,
Another well presented image from your archives. A well composed image with a number of elements that come together to form a harmonious whole. It is nicely lit and has very good colours and sharpness.

Hello Jason,
Thanks for a nice critique written, and greaty to see a place never saw - and not many picture on TE from this lovely town.
The bridge, high above "frames" the whole, and especially the statue.
The small square is adorned by coloful arrey of flowers, giving the old houses extra beauty on their already fabulous surrounding's.
Cheers,
Ike

Hi Jason,
An impressive shot in excellent clarity with sufficient glow of colors. The viewpoint is effective while keeping the point of interest, the toll highway spanning bridge brightly lit and in sharp focus. Excellently composed image.
P.s. Is it not a Flamatt higway bridge on the way from Bern to Fribourg??

Hello Jason
Thank you very much for the honor and especially for that charming photo of the veille ville of Fribourg. I have fond memories of this city as I used to live there for 4 years as a young student from 1977 to 1981, so I know this corner rather well. It is true that Fribourg has one of the most charming old city centers in Switzerland. Even though that the city is bilingual the locals preffer to be adressed as being part of the french speaking part of Switzerland.
have a good day
Daniel

Hi Jason,
Nice one indeed, and thanks for scanning, well worth keeping these shots forever. My first thought on seeing this is Rivendell from Lord of the Rings. The position of the statue and the romantic style architecture, all framed by that elegant bridge make this a scene that would fit perfectly there. The flowers all around the statue are a great bonus too.
Cheers
Noel
