Train approaching Schynige Platte, 1987 m above the sea level. These narrow gauge trains climb over 1400 m within a distance of 7 km. Schynige Platte railway was opened in 1893. It was electrified in 1914, and the railway still operates vintage locomotives that are now 100 years old. Trains are always operated with locomotive on the valley side.

This is not for anyone with vertigo!
You have managed, in a beautifully composed shot, to establish the immense height, the beauty and the thrill of this train!
Have a lovely Sunday,

A very interesting note for this charming vintage train that seems to keep going strong. The scenery is truly spectacular, thanks to a clever point of view right after the bending curve for a dramatic impression.

That must have been a spectacular train journey!
A challenging ride seen from here. With the abyss just around the corner.
The red colour of the train makes it an eye-catcher on the picture and in the Alpine mountain landscape.
Best regards, Paul

At first view just a beautiful picture, but at second view also a remarkable picture. It looks as if the train is just exhibited on this strange place. You can’t see how the train can move to both sides. I think the lady needs some help.

Hello Kari - I would love to take a couple of scenic train rides through Switzerland, the views, as we see here, are spectacular. Your shot is well balanced with a very good feel for both height and the depth of the landscape.

This is a great shot of this beautiful old train. The addition of the people in the windows adds nice points of interest for the shot. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has excellent sharpness and detail.

Gidday dear Kari
I thought of you and your train fetish when I was in Parkes last week. They had an old locomotive there, the Spirit of Parkes. I tried to take a good photo of it but failed dismally. So I appreciate the quality and skill that has gone into this photo of yours. Excellent vivid colours, great sharpness, an excellent POV and a beautiful landscape to frame your most interesting subject. I couldn't ask for much more than that, could I?

Impressive scenery for the passengers of this well preserved train.
Nice vehicle in dangerous (I think) surroundings.
