misty mountains, a photo from Bern, West

and here we go for the next photo of our alpine hike from this weekend.
As mentioned in previously uploads, the weather was constantly changing. Here we are at an altitude of around 1500m above sea level and the rain just stopped for a moment when fog and clouds from the valley floor where whafting up trough the trees and meadows.
If you look closely you can just make out the rails of the Mürren-Grütschalp train line. Only in Switzerland are we so crazy to build a train line only 5km long, connecting a small village up in the mountains (Mürren and Grütschalp are both also at the same altitude we are now) to a alpine meadow with a cable car station and a restaurant.

hi daniel,
you have captured the atmosphere of this place very well through the rain and mist. i like how you have composed the picture with the road in the corner of the frame and leading the viewer further into the scene.

Picture so fog aren't easy to do well, Daniel - I've rarely found mine to adequately express the atmosphere of the place it was taken. The depth of this shot helps you accomplish that, as the trees kind of vanish into the mist the further back in the frame one looks; you can even see the mist rolling in in spots, where it is thicker or thinner, which expresses both change and texture. Nice POV looking out over the sloping hill with the road as a dividing line.

Hello Daniel,
I like the softness of the colours due to the mist. I think that the flowers in the FG are an important part of the composition as the colour is a little stronger and contrasts perfectly with the atmospheric BG.

Wow! Love the effect of the fog on the mood, I wish we have fogging conditions in Vegas but the air too dry for that. Good composition and dof with nice details. Well done, tfs.
