Photographer's Note

It was a beautiful sunny morning as we rode the "gondol" to the top of the mountain for our first run of the day. Some days I met many interesting people on the gondol rides, but this time it was early and no one was very talkative, so I wrapped my camera strap around my wrist and held it out the window as far as possible to take some photos of the beautiful morning. In this shot I was lucky enough to catch a passing gondol (heading down) through the front window of the gondol I was in.

I know "gondol" is not an English word, but that is what everyone called it. I think in English we would call this a cable car? I have never ridden anything quite like it in America, so I don't know if there is a better English word for it. I learned lots of German ski terminology that week, and I didn't learn the English translations of some of the words. :)

On the small gondol in this picture you can see the red Swiss cross symbol, and also Hasliberg, the name of the tiny little town we were in.
