at first glance i thought this was some sort of forrest fire.
A very cool looking linear horizontal shot.
Its almost hard to believe thats even a strip of sunlight!
Wonderful nature/landscape photo.
certainly caught my attention from the gallery page.
well done with this varied lighting.

Hello Kari, the thumbnail really had us guessing as to precisely just what the coloured band was; I thought of a volcano and lava but knew that could not possibly be right!
A fleeting moment in time, as the sun highlights just a part of the mountain.
Even more impressive with the low cloud over the summit.
Thank you for sharing it with us.

This is just amazing!
Maybe a volcano, maybe a fire ... what suspense!
This must be one of the most surprising effects of sunlight that I have ever seen!
You have composed the shot nicely so that there is a big patch of sky for contrast.
Thanks for sharing this,

Looking at the thumbnail I also thought of a volcano and a lava flow but the location 'Switserland' said that this was impossible.
Wonderful reddish tones created on the mountain side.
Good composition in horizontal layers.
Best regards, Paul

I guess that I will have to join our colleagues perception and reveal without surprises that I also thought that your thumbnail was presenting a volcano. Now, I can appreciate the optical illusion and realize that it is a light show.
Quite interesting conditions here, with the top of the mountain fully covered in a dense cloud/fog, while the middle shines under different conditions, like if their was two different micro-climates, layer wise.
Unusual presentation, captured at the right moment - these phenomenon don't last forever, at least not with that intensity.

Hi Kari. There are magical moments that occur around us and one is lucky to be there when they briefly shine upon our existence and even luckier to have a camera on the ready. Unique combination of gloom and light. Regards. Klaudio.

It is really surprised to me that this was sunlight. I think forest fire line. Very well captured the uncommon light, good work and well sharped image.

Excellent famous Eiger close-up photo with very nice colors, perfect light, very good clarity. The well-chosen tight crop eliminates all unwanted distractions.
Very well done.

Du contraste sur la montagne, ce rouge flamboyant du coucher du soleil et le dessus avec la brume, un spectacle naturel bien mise en image

Ciao dear Kari
What an unusual and strikingly beautiful photo. The light has made miracles here and you captured it beautifully. It looks like a molten volcano. Stunning composition and depth. A very artistic and high quality photo.
