Good Morning Everyone,
My shot, this morning, shows one very interesting detail of the very beautiful building which is the town hall at Basel. I was captivated by the artistry and the cleanliness of this commemorative window and ... there was the added benefit of a reflected building, part of the surroundings of the huge, market square.
The town hall is a most interesting and very unusual building. The outer walls are covered with paintings and reminded me very much of modern people who are decorating their skin with tattoos.
I will add a link here which shows some very lovely close-ups of the decorated walls and I will add a w/s here of one of my own photographs.
Thank you for stopping by to share one aspect of my first visit to Switzerland, Bev :-)

Good morning Beverly,
Well spotted this beautiful window, and a mirror on a house accross the street.
Fantastic the painting and decorations, the unique sign which German translated (by google) to " Here Schweiz Ground & land".
Maybe you entered to the inner-court saw this corner of the same building.

A most interesting and finely crafted window. You have captured it nicely in this well framed symmetrical composition. The well rendered reflections are a bonus. Excellent technical presentation. I wish you a pleasant week ahead.

Good morning Bev
interesting that you commented on the cleanliness of the window! Betraying your northern cultural roots there methinks! Ha ha! But interstingly, like you the first thing that struck me about this is the cleanliness of it. The colours and building are pristine.
Very clear and sharp shot that has a great reflection that adds to the feeling of the character of the place.
Have a good day

like this! Super sharp capture that is perfectly cropped and full of such charming detail and beautiful colours. The reflection adds that little element that makes it all the more special. Excellent work!
Have a good week - Brian.

Non seulement la fenêtre et son cadre sont superbes, mais les reflets nous montrent bien que c'est aussi beau de l'autre côté de la rue. La contre plongée donne une belle ampleur à ce détail architectural.

Thanks for this beautiful postcard of Basle town hall ! Great colours and sharpness. I also like the nice reflections in the window.
And thanks for the link and the WS. Lovely work of art on the walls.
But what was the commemoration in 1901 ? 400 years of what ?
Thanks for sharing.

It looks like a theater building, for example. Very nice and cute details, good cropped photo, attractive colors. The window's reflection is a good bonus for the composition.
Greetings from Russia!

Both pictures here are very interesting and I appreciate your link too. A bit better than the Google "yellow man". The reflection in the window here gives the impression that there were at lot to see at this place.

a wonderfully framed detail from a very impressive building. A well balanced and delightful composition in which all the details, patterns and colours are well defined and attractive. I like very much how our glance and attention roll from one element to another. The reflections on the window are marvellous, they add interest and context and their colours match those of the decoration superbly. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,

An interesting note with a fine link to a wonderful series of interactive panoramic photographs of the interior of this splendid building. Your workshop picture too is excellent but I really like this one of the commemorative window - so colourful and detailed and with such lovely reflections in the shiny glass panes of the window.
You have cleverly (Cleverly Beverley!) taken advantage of the new larger size limits now allowed for TE uploads, your picture is perfectly exposed with a fine symmetrical composition, the colours are delightful and the details and sharpness are exquisite.

As you note, the window is kept to spotless and well painted, it really is a work of architectural art. a great part of the building to focus on and a great upwards point of view to show that black and white sun too.
All the best

una finestra molto pittoresca, la commemorazione l'ha rimpita di belle figure e tanti colori.
Splendido il riflesso sui vetri, che ne aumenta l'attrattiva e la rende meno statica.

Hello Bev - Decorating surfaces and telling stories through the decoration seems to have been with us since time immemorial. The caves of Namibia are covered in San paintings and while very different to the ones pictured here tell stories of important events. This is a super shot with fine detail and excellent colour, the reflections add an interesting brighter detail. Have a great day. Rosemary
