Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,,

I have never, previously seen a more colourful or inventive ferry boat.

This particular ferry crossed the fast flowing Rhine at Basel. It had no means of propulsion other than the movement of the water, being attached to a strong wire which spanned the river. The ferryboat operator cleverly manoeuvred the boat with a rudder.

It was made colourful by masses of wool that had been wound into patterns. (There is a craze for this type of decoration in England, it is called 'yarnival'.)

The ferry was very busy as being a quick, exciting and very unusual way to cross this wide river.

Have a great day, Bev :-)
