Detail from previous photo, the Basel City Hall clock.
The Latin inscription below "RENOVATUM ET AMPLI FICATUM ANNO DOMINI MDCCCCI" means "Renovations done in Year 1901".

a beautiful clock and a perfect capture. So much amazing detail and colour to be seen here in this exquisite presentation. Although the netting is a pain it does at least keep the guano from spoiling the paintwork! ;-). Glorious!

Cette horloge de l'hôtel de ville est vraiment très colorée et le post traitement accentue vraiment les couleurs.Le cadrage est vraiment très beau et va chercher les détails avec une grande netteté.

Renovations were probably needed a protecting net, Miro, and i remember seeing this. maybe a fear that elements woud be stolen or just "fall" from the wall's.
Anyway, anintriguing sight, marvelous colors collected, pleasure to look at.

I don't think I'd worry if the time is correct just looking at this colorful and ornate clock is enough. Nicely captured with good lighting and nice details with wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.

Incredible detailing and color, a wonderful idea to get in close to proudly display this ornate piece of work. A pity that the netting distracts some from the visual, but completely understood and necessary for preservation. Besides, we still get a great sense of the overall craftsmanship just the same. Like the others, this looks even more impressive in the larger file size, your handy work behind the lends plays to the strengths of your composition. Aside from the obvious technical and artistic details, it's the cleanliness which stands out most to me...as with so much of Switzerland, they do a terrific job in keeping things in very good order. Enjoy the weekend ahead. All the best.

An excellent detail from the Basel City Clock. Interesting to see 1901 written as MDCCCCI instead of the more regular MCMI. I am guessing that the net protects the statues from birds.

Good close-up with cutting edge of a very nice vintage time piece with its unique characters so much of wonderful detail and depth of tone. The clarity is fine, sharp in focus with the sunshine has brought the colour out stunningly. Worthy an effort, Congrats.

Ciao dear Miro
This is such an ornate and colourful clocktower. I like the tight framing and the concentration on the details rather than the building as a whole, as see in your next photo. The colours are very vivid and almost give the impression of HDR. Nice work.
Thanks for sharing, happy weekend

Fantastic detail in this photo. It is either this clock in Basel or the one in Bern that inspired Einstein to formulate his Special Theory of Relativity, especially in its enigmatic "time dilation effect." I will be giving a talk at the Smithsonian Institution on July 1, "Einstein, Newton and Leonardo: Patterns in Creativity." If you don't mind, I will use this beautiful photo among the slides I project in the lecture (of course with full credit to you).
Warm regards and have a good weekend,

You're capturing well city hall clock by a good macro and excellent tone, so it's interesting and impressive to see the clock with a showy ornament and decoration. It is visible to a work of art rather than calling it practical use. However, it is easy to be familiar. And, it's also impressive in the portrait of the face embedded in the frame of the clock and the statues as saint of top side.

amazing details of this old and giant clock. the net isn't a good element in the image, but we can imagine the clock without it. nice job. TFS.
