Photographer’s Note

In a city completely caught by the carnival hysteria, Waggis are the kings of the Cortege, they decide who will get sweets, mimosa, or a full load of confetti (obviously here...)

Cette pluie de confettis bleus contraste joliment avec les coiffures hérissées de rouge.

Elle est bien belle celle-là! De tous les Waggis que tu nous a présentés, je trouve que c'est la photo la plus festive, la plus lumineuse et la mieux composée.

La pluie de confetti n'a pas réussi à tromper ta mise au point automatique et de les voir ainsi tantôt bien définis, tantôt flous procure un effet tridimensionnel très réussi. Les couleurs bien saturées ajoutent à l'esprit de la fête.

Wow, the colour in this really leaps out of the frame at me! That red is especially impressive (the magic of red strikes again!). I like the way you caught the action in this with a fast shutter speed, and the the shallow depth of field isolates the main subject against the blurred background. Excellent work!

Je suis bluffé à quelle vitesse tu as fait ton choix! On voulais des confettis... Tu les as eu. Bien sûr avec mon vieux Nikon argentique, il faudra attendre un peu pour que les miennes soient développées et don visibles, et en plus j'ai du travail à faire assez rapidement, donc ceci risque de ne pas venir trop vite... J'ai énormément apprécié de faire ta connaissance. Et j'espère bien que c'est pas la dernière fois que l'on fera des photos ensemble!

Je suis passé en Suisse et en Italie la semaine dernière. Il y avait et je pense il y a encore des confétis partout.
Je conprends mieux pourquoi.
Très sympa cette image, vivante et aux couleurs qui pètent.

This lens works really great JY at 2.8 the result is fantastic on the main subject and blurred areas are really pleasant , composition is well studied too colours fine , compliments.

Vibrant compo of lively and bright red and blue. Great focus and bokeh. I wish we had such lively and funny festivals here as well. Just for the sake of colorful photography...

I was looking out for you during our march... perhaps if I had been dressed like this I might have caught your attention!! What a great character, and you must have taken a lot of shots to get such a good one with the Rappli in full shower. An excellent capture of the Fasnacht atmosphere. My feet have just about warmed up now, though I'm still recovering in other ways...

Wonderful capture - the colors are vibrant and the floating confetti makes the mask seem even more surreal. I really must get to Basel next year for Carnival; there is not much of a celebration in Lausanne, unfortunately.

great capture. The moment was perfect and the confettis worked beautifully as the contrasting color against the red. In my opinion that was the difference to make this composition pops up in my monitor. Really great work!

I got to see some Waggis and heard some Guggamusik on my last day in Basel, but didn't have my camera with me! Wonderful moment capturing the static grin of this typical Waggis and the confetti rain coming from the right. The f/2.8 provides me perfect blurred background avoiding any distraction to the main attention - the Waggis.
