"Numme blau simmer stargg" (Only blue are we strong)

Who would have believed it in a country dominated by RED from the flag main color to the cameras most used...

This photo has been taken during the "Fasnachtsladärnenuustellig" (Carnival Lanterns Exhibition) that takes place from monday evening to wednesday morning on the cathedral square, and this is Basel's biggest artwork exhibition in both images and word. The old man appearing on the photo is picking up a "Zeedel", a small piece of paper where the "Sujet", the topic presented by the Carnival clique on the "Ladärne", is illustrated in verses with full bodied Basler humour. Those who believe the Swiss have no sense of humour should come to Basel to learn about the world !

I have chosen this "Ladärne" because of its visual impact and after all there is some RED in it as well, I enclose as well in the WS two other ones that are about a famous advertisement campaign of the SVP (conservative) political party before the last elections, they were looking forward for the criminal foreigners to be kicked out of pure Switzerland, symbolized in the ad by white sheep kicking out a black sheep. However the leader of this party who was member of the "Bundesrat" (council of ministers) was not reelected to it due to backstage political agreements between other parties, so the Swiss humorists quickly replaced the criminal foreigner by this guy as the black sheep being kicked of the Bundesrat by the remaining white sheep, and this has become the Sujet of several Ladärnen this year.
