Only two days after I took the previous picture of this location I couldn't resist to take another one. Obviously the first wasn't at the peak of fall-colours but this one definitely is as todays sunday-stroll proved (no more leaves on tree, stairs and lawn).
Personally I favour this one over the first try as the light was much softer (overcast afternoon vs. clear morning light) and I was a bit less heavy handed with sharpening. Also this one is the whole frame where as the first version was cropped. On the other hand I still very much like the stronger composition of the first... hmmm...
I'm looking forward to hear your preferences... and am now waiting for snow for yet another version, though at 15°C it doesn't smell like snow yet.

I like this composition, the lines leading us through the shot. I would suggest either cropping out or showing more of the rail down to the right as the little that we now see is a little distracting.

I also like this picture better. I feel frame is more balanced and not as grey since we see less of the asphalt. The sight of the tree also makes it more lively. As for the other one, we are more concentrated on the ciment and it's texture and here the staires seperate the frame in two: man made colors (the parking lot) and nature (trees, grass...). In WS I tried a different way to crop it... tell me what you think!

Nice work, the geometry is very strong, and the color is brilliant. i really like the inclusion of the additional asphalt in the bottom left--i think that it adds a nice contrast to the sharp yellows of the top right, giving balance and providing something from the opposite end of the spectrum against which to weigh all the yellow. The little blip of handrail in the bottom right bugs me a little bit as well, but i already read your response to that point.

nice shot this too, but i still prefere the first one. As you said is stronger indeed. I would say: the first one with more leaves and the same light of this one would be perfect.
Now let's wait for white instead of yellow....

I've been trying to figure out which one I like the best, and I can't decide. I like them both, and I feel the same way you do as to why I like each one. It will be interesting to see this in snow. This could be one of those places where you capture it in all the different seasons.
