Farewell Winter Photo

Photographer’s Note

I thought I’d post one more wintry shot before we put our clocks forward tonight for summertime here in Europe. This shot was taken a couple of weeks ago on a walk in my neighbourhood after heavy snowfall. Under deep snow, familiar places took on new and eerie forms. These remarkable dunes of snow fascinated me with their perfect, untouched ripples and glittering surface. It was difficult to get a good perspective across them without risking being buried in snow and I had to lean over a low fence to get this view. The snow is rather underexposed but I didn’t want to burn out the sky, and in the end I quite liked the eerie effect in the evening light. I hope you like it too.

Bonjour Susanna,
curieuse vagues formées par cette relative fine couche de neige, elle épouse bien entendu ce qu'elle recouvre.
Un cadrage top, bien proportionnel en fonction du sujet, une neige teintée de bleue, je l'aurais préférée plus blanche.
C'est très esthétique.

Nice smooth texture you have captured here. I like the ripples in the snow. And the soft sunlight is a good feature too. Nice work and a good blue cast to add atmosphere.

Hi Susanna
This certainly contrasts with the beautiful warm spring day we have today. I don't want to see snow for another 9 months other than in photos. I like the texture and ripples on the snow. Well composed with not much sky and the low lying sun and roof.

I think you got it just right under-exposed or not. The ripples as you say are very unusual and make an interesting composition. I love the little sunburst.
