Photographer’s Note

You must have noticed the same, the days ARE getting shorter and you may even need light in the morning to read the newspaper. The summer days are almost over and what remains are memories of hot summer days sharing it with friends and family or sometimes just by yourself studying the sky and how the clouds move over with an ice cream in your hand that slowly drops down your fingers.

This picture represents my personal summer feelings and how you sometimes discuss things deep into the night with your closest friends. A slightly damp night maybe when it does not want to cool down and there is no way to go inside but you open another bottle of cool white wine instead.

Seasons come and go, smoothly changing.

Hi Barbara,
Such a good sentimental reminiscing the warm summer night as it slowly comes to an end. There is a sense lost and sadness, but let’s not forget the falls bring abundance of harvest and colors in the forest. Season comes, season goes. Can’t stop it. Enjoy it for what it is.
You photo does depict and beautiful summer times spent with good friends long conversations or just quiet time. As we all love about our photos, the big open space, gives us such a relaxing and peaceful feeling. Very lovely image.

At the moment I saw this image in thumbnail, one of your previous shots immediately flashed in my head.
What I like here the most is, being colorful. It looks naturally b&w with a very slight tint of blue tones.
Silhouettes of the two people and hard contrast between ground and sky are so nice.

Hello Barbara,
I like this minimalistic photo which conveys more of emotions rather than anything else - thanks to the colours and those two black tiny figures in the distance :)......though I'd rather see these two a few steps to the right ;-)
And I always like your Notes. Do you happen to write short stories as well?? :) You would be a great writer!

Hi Barbara,
A good pair for 'Little Heros'. Yes, this has more of waiting feeling, a couple hanging out in the darkening evening.
Looking at the weather statistics of this summer, I wasn't lucky. In Tampere there was 9 days exceeding 25 degrees temperature. And I was somewhere else on every single of them. But now the weather looks fine.

Hi Barbara, I am noticing the inverse here in the Southern Hemisphere. Spring is sprung and the days are getting longer - and hotter. This is a very wistful photo, the two people look like they are looking back at the summer and all that they had. Beautiful sillhouettes against that beautiful and dramatic sky. Well done, Lisa.

klasse Bildkomposition mit der richtigen Wahl zu einem vertikalen Format. Das Bild strahlt eine innere Ruhe und Zufriedenheit aus. So als ob die zwei Damen gerade den zurückliegenden schönen Tag noch einmal in Gedanken reflektieren und danach den Heimweg antreten. Klasse Himmel. Meinen Glückwunsch zu diesem stimmungsvollen Bild.

I know exactly how you feel. I've just come back from Riga, and I remember sitting with a friend in her garden, having coffe in the morning and listening how the apples are falling from the tree. the sound is soooo "end of summer, beginning of autumn", somewhat melancholic feeling, bitter-sweet, I guess you could call it. your photo has the same mood - soft light, pastel colours, muted sounds. lovely :)

Well, we haven't had so many of the kind of evenings you mention, but then this is England, and here too there is a very autumnal feel. It's not so much the autumn I dislike, but the fact that it heralds winter. The hands-on-hips attitude of the two people indicate they have the same mood as you. Another one of your fantastic minimalist images. No-one can do it like you can.

I love the sense of space with the immense sky and with your note, it seems to say how small we are with the way the world changes throughout the year. The atmosphere with the charged clouds and strong silhouette is dramatic.

Liebe Barbara,

zuerst mal zur Note: *ich* brauche kein Licht um in der "Früh" die Zeitung zu lesen. Bei uns ist es noch ab 6:30 Uhr hell und vorher findest du mich nicht auf zwei Beinen, da die Jungs noch Ferien haben. :-) Zum Thema Wein stimme ich dir aber hundert-pro zu!

Ein schönes Bild - dieser Himmel und die Silhouetten gefallen mir richtig gut. Für mein Empfinden ist es als Foto ein Bisschen weich, aber das stört mich nicht, da es so viel aussagt. Schärfe ist sowieso oft eine Geschmackssache! ;-)

Guten Morgen Barbara,
Was ? Lindau im Kanton ZH ??? Ich habe immer gedacht, Lindau sei im Bayern, vieilleicht muss ich doch meine Geographie aktualisieren, mag sein, dass Gaddafi doch Lindau dem Kanton ZH gegeben hat ;-) Der Himmel ist Klasse auf diesem Bild, die 2 Personen animieren den unteren Teil und ich kann mich sofort der Wein Idee anschliessen...

The central composition of these people work really well. Very simple yet enjoyable scene. The days are starting to get longer here yet the cold is still evident. The note was a joy to read as was looking at this capture.

A beautiful image of friendship, Barbara--two people sticking together in a very big world. Your photography seems to be becoming more poetic recently, instead of documentary--I like that, because variety is what keeps things interesting! Regards, Ken.

Trademark shot of yours witha low horizon, plenty of sky & the silhouettes which work wonderfully! So summer comes to an end...the wind in the evening would be a bit chill & the light grows depressing as the days grow shorter. Loved your shot as well as the note...very moody!

I love the simplicity of this shot and your writing skills. I don't know if you write but you have a knack for describing your feelings and thoughts that is a pleasure to read. Now back to the photo. A thought provoking image that shows how insignificant we are as people in this vastness of space. Oh dear that sounds a bit over the top. Anyway I like the shot.
