Photographer’s Note
Midday, 12:23 PM...
It is very, very, VERY hot!..
I realize that no matter where you take photos in Zurich, each place and even little spot will look too famous and too well-known, especially when there is Grossmьnster in the background! :)
So I didn't look for unknown places in the city for it's pretty useless :) I just tried to capture the "essence" of the moment whenever possible...
Here is one of my attempts to look at the famous objects from an "irregular" point of view. I also realize that the composition appears rather complicated..
I wonder what you think of it? Sometimes I feel that it very difficult to define what is really appropriate and what is not.

I admit I feel like a peeping tom, looking on a sleeping individual on a sunny day in good old Zьrich, missing an opportunity. The construction is simple, but flawless.
I am not sure that I would have taken this shot, but then I may have missed an opportunity...who knows.
I like your style Elena, also because it is something I don't have.
Cheers

Hi Elena,
You always seem to look for the small details that turn a photo into a picture. You have found one here! A very nice and peaceful feeling here, thatґs obvious!
Kind regards

Hi Elena,
Today I was being very picky looking through the thumbmails, my bad mood day :( and yours stood out. I love the shot - there is a definite fg photo and a separate bg one :)) Your POV is very artistic. I like looking around the fg building to the bg ones. Perhaps I should go and lie in the sun and enjoy the day more :) Yes, I like your composition.
Graham.

Hi Elena,
Feeling of a hot day is definitely there. Always busy Zьrich seems to be on siesta, and most of the people hiding in shadows. Just one city person taking a nap on an unlikely place. Definitely your style differing from obvious viewpoints.
Railing is ugly though and light is what it is in noon of a hot day.
You didn't visit countryside while there?

dear Elena,
maybe famous sightseeing spots or objects are parts of simply back view in common life for habitants there...
and this POV from ordinary place to special place is a nice technique,
it was often used in Japanese "Ukiyoe" at Edo times.
for example, art works of Hiroshige, Hokusai etc.
anyway, the contrast between fore common house with napping man and back historical buildings is humorous, and it shows us one real air of modern city there very well.
the wind on the river makes the light moderate.
thank you,
Akihisa

Hello Elena!
I love this picture for its very well chosen pov and perfect composition (the person that's sunbathing, taking a nap and getting some relax is a real highlight)! Sharpness, exposure and natural colors are excellent! A totally different Zьrich for me, because I was there in January 2005 - it was very cold!
TFS - congratulations!

Hello my dear Elena
What a comfortable, clear stable and good composition shot! Yes ""attempts to look at the famous objects from an "irregular" point of view"" is very very important but rather difficult, however we have to try.
By the way lady laying the edge is focused intentionally or not ?
Congratulation on your good job !
Thanks for sharing and best regards,
Have a good day !

Hi Elena,
just looking at this image is a diaphoretic affair! Sunbathing at that time on such a place must be a challenge. I like this contribution in the best spirit of TE a lot. TFS!

Hello Elena! Yes this is VERY Zuerich but speaking for myself, I would never sit in the direct summer sun. Love the relaxing mood of the picture, as soon as you are off the main tourist routes, the city gets more relaxed and you find dozenes of corners like you found it. Okay the view is famous, I agree, but most tourists would stop somewhere else. Yes this is very mid day, you can see it by the pale sky but I don't mind it actually, it shows the time of the day, it even shows the heat, it shows the essence when you were there, what it meant for you. This is a good one, I like it. Have a nice Saturday, Barbara.

Hello Elena,
A nice view of the city with a little glimpse of daily life. What else is there to do on a sunny day than to do some tanning? Hopefully he (?) didn't turn around in sleep and fell into the water.
Greetings,

Hello Elena,
this picture shows all your skill in composition: really well balanced and dynamic. The subject is both interesting and fine showing the traditional architecture of Zurich, those two twin bell towers and this curious corner with a tired lady: who has not done the same when visiting a foreign town?
Best regards,
Donato

Wonderful street photo with a decisive moment on it as the girl seems to be in a deep doze enjoying at the same time that mild relaxing atmosphere with a nice sun grazing her skin...The context is also interesting because it shows a nice cityscape of the town that chills out incredibly !
Thanks for showing and all the best ,
M.

Hi Elena. Nice little vignette of one individual against the larger perspective of urban existence. The POV is pleasing as the handrail leads to the fellow enjoying the day and then the eye bounces off the wall and over the open space provided by the body of water until the gaze is lifted along the facades, up to the domes. Well done. Regards. Klaudio.

Elena
I look for a best energic concentration to comment your letter. Today I work since 15 to 23 p.m. during 6 days and then will have my second holliday period. I will drive to the north, exactly to Fundгo. I will describe all this by email. Do not worry anyway. Concerning to this picture the center of the city is cut by a beautiful streamy river. Interesting cathedral with the twin towers. And this date to the americans is to reflection, to remember people who still could be alive. Perpahs I will never visit this place due to the high prices essential for surviving. But I believe it is possible to be there without spending to much because I did visit three places too. Basel, Geneve and Lousanne. I think I have already mentioned it. Well the hour now is 2 o`clock in the morning what means I will get up later. A good day to you. Your friend Tomi
