[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was shot near the village of Tegna, close to Locarno and just downstream of the Ponte Brolla. It shows a pool of still water, formed when the Maggia river makes a sharp bend as it emerges from the short canyon at the Ponte Brolla. I was particularly struck by the arrangement of these boulders and how they appeared to be icebergs, floating in a frozen ocean. I found a position which offered the maximum separation, one boulder from another, and set about realising a composition involving the beautifully patterned rock in the foreground.

Hi Julian,

I REALLY like this image. I think part of my enjoyment is in the minimal color and excellent sharpness. I also love the great detail on the rocks and the pristine black glassiness of the water. The dark water makes those reflections all the more stunning.

Cheers!

Hi Julian,
Imressive sight that is just like you describe. Those rocks look like floating. Darkish exposure suits very well. f/45, wow!

Hi Julian. This is beautiful and deserves a lot more points than it has received. Fantastic sharpness on the rocks, great reflections. Really very good. Chris

well composed, good to see film based shots here. There are also stones like this in Valle Verzasca.
