Photographer’s Note

This is the oldest part of "Castello Visconteo" in Locarno, canton Ticino, Switzerland. For further information please read my note of yesterday.
The special pinnacles here are called "swallowtails". When this castle was built it was situated on the lakefront of Lago Maggiore with an own small harbour. Because of the masses of rubble which nearby Maggia river carries from the Alps it's delta has grown in such an amount that the castle today stands about 1 kilometre "upcountry".

Please excuse the white sky because of dull weather, but I thought that this building is worth to show - even with a white sky.

In the workshop you can see another part of the castle.

Using the map view function at the left you can zoom in (please click at "satellite" and several times at +) exactly to this impressive building.
