Photographer’s Note
I'm not really sure if it's a church, I took this 15 years ago, and it's this week's vintage offering. Lake Maggiore is the water behind the building. Strangely the Ticino and especially the Locarno gallery on this site is scant, while something gets uploaded from western Switzerland every 2 minutes. 50mm fixed lens, Kodak Gold 100 film.
UPDATE: I found out what the "church" is, description below:
Santuaro Madonna del Sasso sopra Locarno.
The pilgrimage church of the Madonna del Sasso, with a Capuchin friary on a wooded crag above Locarno (355 m/1,165ft) can be reached by funicular from Via Ramogna, between the station and the Piazza Grande, 825 m/2,707ft in six minutes; on foot, by a path with Stations of the Cross, in 30-45minutes; or by road from Sant'Antonio via Monti or from Muralto via Orselina, 3.5km/2mi. The church, founded in 1480, was rebuilt in 1616 and overloaded with decoration in the 19th C. (restored in 20th C.). To the right of the entrance is a major work by Bramantino, the "Flight into Egypt" (1536), and in the second side chapel an "Entombment" by A. Ciseri (c. 1865). The notable collection of ecclesiastical art in the monastery museum includes valuable manuscripts.

Hi Tan - I don't know if it's a church either, but it is one beautiful location! Great viewpoint - I like the framing created by the trees at the top of the photo.

Hello,
Very nice composition.
I have the impression I could enter the picture!
The yellow building is not a church.
Thanks to share!

Wow! What a setting! That church high on the rock, overlooking the lake and the valley is really spectacular, and your photo captures it so well! Excellent point of view.

Hi Tan
As always, I'm impressed by the every angle you executed for each of your picture. You will always get to the best point to have the best coverage that give you a great deal of composition. This is the result.
And to make more surprises, your image was taken 15 years ago. Whoa, that was a very very long gone years.
And you still have the image in good quality. The colors and the sharpness maintained. A very "digital" image, Tan.
Awesome.
Well done and good day.

It is really a wonderful view. Just perfect. I'd say an example of a well planned landscape shot, complete with framing, condusive background that expressed fully, the main subject. The colors and detail is just so vivid here.

Hi Tan,
Great picture. Wonderful view ful of details. A feast for the eye and so perfectly framed by the branches.
I do think that's a church. The facade is saying so, with the two statues aside and the rozet in the middle (Neo-romanesc).
Thanks and regards, Gerrit

Hi Tan,
This is a wonderful picturesque place. The location is also brilliant. One thing I noted about the building is that there seems to be an older structure below the yellow structure..wonder whether they are part of the same structure.
Superb shot yet again

very nice one Master Tan.
I mean this by your good eyes for taking a photo. It's a chame you are a little bit lazy otherwise the shot was better I think, with a WS, with a frame, well you know what I mean.

Hi Tan,
A superb POV for this colourful and dramatic scene. The hues and tones of the church like structure blend well together and contrast nicely with the blue and green natural colours. Clear and crisp resolution. Well done, Tan.

Wonderful place very well rendered.
The natural framing at the top is well placed, just over the mountains, not obtrusive at all.The church, slightly offcenter, open the view to the city below and the lake.

Hi Tan,
I know 90 % of Bagan temples, but I don't know this church of my country... ;-)
Nevertheless I like very much Ticino. I shall have to go there one of these days...
Excellent compo, everything is well placed.
The yellow church contrasts well with the lagooon... heeeuuuu the lake...
Well done

Hi Tan, Sometimes I never get past your randoms when I open your gallery - there are so many gems there from the past. This is one such gem - perfectly composed (I love the way in which you have framed this with the tree branches at the top), nice warm light and good saturation. I always marvel at the fact you seem to have such good weather when you go to these places - when for us other mere mortals it rains! Cheers . . . David
