Photographer's Note

as seen in the picture before, the sanctuary della madonna di Sasso is perched high above lago Maggiore. From the church one has a wonderful view over the lake and the surounding snow capped alps.
special note has to be taken to the weather, it is not always like that in the Ticino in January, it has actually been the hottest weekend in January for almost 50 years with 22c Celsius, while north of the alps the weather was rather drab and grey with lots of fog.

Indeed, the view from this sanctuary is breath taking. Wonderful colours of the lake and and mountains. Is there even sailboat? Amazing warm as for January. Global warming? Nice idea to frame with the arch. Warm reagrds

Lovely framing, Daniel, with the peaks of the mountains mimicked by the arch of the window. The lone sailboat on the water is a great detail, while your clarity and sharpness is retained through the full shot. Nicely seen and captured.

Wow another great shot! I like this one very much, and am sure that this one is the best of week from you. Blue colored touch in total is wonderful but I like the position armed roof in the above, that plays an very impressive image too. Thanks for your sharing and have a good last working day!

I only wonder if it is possible to reduce a little blue colour inside the arch...

Hello Daniel,
When you say "22 degrees" I guess you really mean +? Wow. If that happened in Sweden we could really be talking about global warming.
As far as this photo is concerned it's a great view, as so often happens in Switzerland. You have framed the mountain and the lake very nicely with those pillars. The exposure is perfect too. This church really has some view, so the title is quite correct.

A church with an incredible view, the blue clear sky all the way over to the mountains in the distance looks excellent, especially framed by the colums of the building. Great color in the foreground to contrast with the distance too. Lovely image, thanks for sharing, the snow capped mountains are stunning.

A nicely balance exposed between dark and bright areas and the ambience is so pleasingly blended. It's wonderfully framed through the arches connecting to further view in the far end. Good detail and dof making the most of the angle leading the eyes with the stunning white snow peaks help to glue the eyes. Beautifully done, Congrats

Hello Daniel,

I remember Madonna di Sasso only too well. It was in my first complete year as a teacher (1982) when I visited Ticino and sat a little above this church, looking down at church and lake. The nuns were singing, the view enchanting, and I felt completely content with the world.

Beautiful view of Lake Maggiore seen from the arches in the foreground that invite the 'eye to move forward to the snow capped mountains. Very nice l 'idea and very well made with a very well run.
