Photographer's Note
This series of photographs is offering a short journey around Switzerland, a landlocked country geographically divided between the Alps, the Swiss Plateau and the Jura, bordering with France, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and Italy.
Switzerland (the Swiss Confederation) consists of following 20 cantons (states) and 6 half-cantons: Aargau, Appenzell Ausserhoden*, Appenzell Innerhoden*, Basel Landschaft*, Basel Stadt*, Bern, Fribourg, Geneva, Glarus, Graubünden, Jura, Lucerne, Neuchatel, Nidwalden*, Obwalden*, Schaffhausen, Schwyz, Solothurn, St. Gallen, Thurgau, Ticino, Uri, Valais, Vaud, Zug and Zurich (*=half-canton).
From each canton I’ll post 2 photos and from each half-canton 1 photo, total 46 photographs.
Ticino
Canton Ticino is the southernmost canton of Switzerland named after the Ticino River. It is almost entirely surrounded by Italy which lies to its east, west and south. To the north lie the cantons of Valais and Uri, to the northeast the canton of Graubünden. The largest city is Lugano and capital city is Bellinzona.
Photo shows patrician villa with lot of history from 19th century in Locarno. Locarno, the film festival city, is located on the north shore of Lago Maggiore, with buildings and modern villas which are scattered into the mountain slope of Locarno upto Lago Maggiore shores.
The center of the city is the long-stretched Piazza Grande, whose north side is formed of elegant arcade houses in the Lombardi style from the 19th century.
In the Old Town, the visitor can find picturesque lanes and stately patrician's houses from the 15th and 16th centuries.
When visiting Locarno the visitor will notice that the mentality of the Ticino people is quite a bit different than the northern part of Switzerland. It is not just the Mediterranean climate but the people are more like the Italians, very temperamental.
Locarno is located 238km southeast from Bern, 200km south from Zurich and only 120km from Italian city of Milan.

Hi Miro,
This is one of the most beautiful villas I've seen. And there's many in that region. Upwards angle gives it extra strength. Bright yellow goes well together with deep blue sky.

Hello Miro,
It is a well-chosen framing, in a slight low-angle shot that works very well graphically, and gives a nice perspective to the elegant architecture of this mansion.
The light and the shades have a beautiful effect on the elements, and the colors are magnificent.
Enjoy the day,
Regards,
Maria

Hi Miro,
Beautiful villa, almost is surreal to think this is Switzerland. Such strong colors really seem to enhance this stunning structure. Well managed lighting to pull out the details in the shadows and not over expose the highlights. Wonderful image to represent this amazingly diverse canton. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Jason
