Photographer's Note

this is a view over lago maggiore, a lake both in Switzerland and Italy. The lake is 68km long but only 3 to 5 km wide and snakes its way inbetween the italian and swiss prealps. It has a mediterranian climat and is home to some of the most beautiful gardens in Switzerland, namely the gardens on the Isola di Brissago, two tiny islands in the swiss part of the lake and the Borromean islands on the italian side. The lake itself forms the lowest point above sea level in all Switzerland, only 193m. Thus the bottom of the lake lies mostly below sea level.
