Tenor sax

Since many years I visit JazzAscona, a jazz festival which happens in many places of Ascona, a Swiss town on the lakefront of Lago Maggiore. There are stages on the piazza - directly on the lakefront, in the Old Town, in many restaurants and hotels and there even are several jazz church services in an 700 years old church.
There are trios and there are big bands, there is vocal music and there are brass bands - a simply wonderful mixture, in 2009 the 25th edition.

I'm not a musician or a jazz specialist at all - but this New Orleans jazz of the annual festival somehow has "infected" me ...

Here you can see the tenor saxophonist Boris van der Lek of "Christian Willisohn's Southern Spirit" Band. He really plays his instrument in an "intoxicating" way ... you can hear him HERE.

Good morning Frank,
Yes, really a good picture, together with very good music! A very fine colours harmony here as well, between the strap and the background. Keilwerth certainly makes very good saxophones (even if I prefer Selmer...). Boris looks very concentrated, this could be a promotion photo!

ici en valais central, très beua, pas un nuage pour deux jours, et chaud, désolé...
mais ton image est superbe, quel portrait on voit qu'il se donne, un superbe insturement, ton captage est parfait et retrace à merveille la motivation de cet artiste, somptueux.

Hallo Frank!

This is one of my favourite kinds of photography, portraits of musicians (I have created a "Music and Dance" theme, I hope that you wouldn't mind if I included this photo). Great tight framing and composition, great light managment, but, most important, great capture of the passion and the tension!

gutes Musikerportrait. Der Mann zeigt vollen Einsatz, mit Schweiß und rotem Kopf. Für mich ist die Erfindung des Herrn Sax eine der besten in der Musikgeschichte !

Intéressante diagonale du saxo le musicien est bien cadré, le flash est cependant un peu fort, il est possible de l'adoucir un peu.
Bonne journée depuis Oerléans sous une chaleur écrasante.
