Another photo from my holiday from the road down from St. Gotthard Pass to sunny Ticino.
Many St. Gotthard photos show the old cobblestone paved Tremola Mountain Road in days gone by when it was little more than a pathway and there are also photos of the old horse-drawn post carriage making its way slowly over the steep road.
Today one can take a ride in a replica of this old coach, complete with driver resplendent in national costume, and enjoy the scenery along with much horn blowing, a taste of days long gone.

Without looking in the tumbnails from where this photo came from, I instantly thought that it resembles a lot a famous painting we have here in Switzerland about the famous Gotthard Postal service, so I wasn't surprised at all to find it to be the Gotthard Post indeed. I wasn't aware that a replica was still running these days.
Very pleasing nostalgic composition that lets revive the good old times.
Maybe a black and white or even sepia version would enhance the nostalgic feel even moore?
have a good day

I am glad you posted this closeup of the carriage, its a beautiful vehicle and does speak of a time long gone. The horses are fine animals, and the carriage itself is so vibrant. It looks quite huge too! Perfect positioning of the carriage in the frame.

very nice the snapshot with the passing by replica of the horse carriage in front of your lens.I like its excellent placement in the frame with the clarity and the sharpness of the image to be superb.
Excellent the light and the colour management as the beauty of the image.
Have a good afternoon,Danos

Lovely colors and point of view.

You're capturing well this interesting scene vy a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's impressive to see the spectacle in which the driver resplendent wearing traditional costume is handling the carriage for tourists. It seems to a Nostalgia which misses an old time. It's impressive in two white horses and one brown horse, too. And, the green slope and stone fence of backdrop draw out a good atmosphere in this image.

Not taken during a movie about the Far West, good to see that you still can enjoy a ride in that kind of horse carriage driven by people with old clothes
Like the way it was taken, good angle

Maybe it's my perception as an American, but this looks very much like something I would associate with our Civil War era!? :) I find it incredibly fascinating knowing that it's actually Switzerland. A fine moment captured in a way that offers both a wonderful point of view, and a sense of motion with the horses in stride carrying a classic and colorful wagon. You certainly chose a good angle to show the many beautiful details of this scene. Well done! Thanks for showing something just a little "off the beaten track,"....well, for me anyway! :) Have a great day ahead.
Friendly wishes from Phoenix,

Marvelous pic. on the outskirts of town, three horses carriage and the costumes of the riders look as taken from the old imes to our's.
Yellow color of the wagon is shining against the grey and green.

a superb, detailed presentation of this colourful and impressive carriage. Your picture is very well composed, you have found a great perspective and the moving carriage fits in the frame excellently. The light management is wonderful and the colours natural, vivid and pleasing. A very clear and vivid impression indeed. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,

Hahaha! A stagecoach with U.S. Cavalry soldiers in Switzerland! And they look very real too. Nicely captured with good lighting and sharp details. Well done, tfs.

Great shot seems like a pic taken from a wild wild west film as I am not only attracted to the vintage look but more on its bold stinging colours of the antique wagon. The scene gives it an aged from that era and almost timeless and no loss of detail in appearance. But I am missing the Wild Bunch and the Indians coming down the mountain!! A lively shot, makes for a very eye pleasing picture. Well done.

Hello Miro. A photo like the good old days. But then everything was much more difficult than today. Well seen and realized. A great idea.

A lovely shot, with beautiful light and bright colours. You chose the correct shutter speed, freezing the movement of the trotting horses. I particularly like the yellow tones of the carriage.
Well done, have a lovely day

Ciao Miro, il me semble vous avoir oublier depuis un certain temps!! désolée
Belle prise de cette caravane colorée avec les trois chevaux et les personnes aux tenues particulière comme sorti d'un film, belle réalisation

I think I prefer the color version over the B&W, though both are good in and of themselves. Yellow on grey, against a green background is very eye-catching.
batalay (33859) 2013-09-09 9:19
Although the two photos appear to be of the same horse carriage, they are not the same image rendered into B&W in one and color in the other. Against the rugged background, this one especially has excellent composition and color vibrance. It is clearly a modern digital shot.
bayno (18338) 2013-09-10 7:40
if it were not for the paved road would seem to be returned back in time, fine details and nice colors, very good light too...
adramad (32821) 2014-02-13 7:13
A splendid composition, which has captured in a single moment, with the horses running position, which gives a dynamic touch to the composition must be quite an experience, walking in this lovely chaise for about as fabulososos landscapes, driver and helper with their uniforms are ideal, a great set.
A high brightness and sharpness.
Well done. I love the image.
Have a good evening.
All the best.
