Sunday afternoon by the North Sea Photo

Photographer’s Note

Thurgau is a rather obscure canton in northern Switzerland, but it has the particularity to widely open to the Bodensee, the big lake around which Switzerland meets its neighbours Austria and Germany, so this makes it a popular sunday destination to get the impression of "being at sea" without leaving the alpine country.

On this "North Sea" facade, Arbon is a very attractive little town that once marked the opening of my limited Thurgau gallery, here I first wanted to shot this interesting developping sky with dynamic shapes developping over thicker low clouds hinting for a miserable monday to follow, but I found it would be nice to also include a moment of this sunday afternoon with people strolling by the lake at ground level.

Hey Jean,

Great skies and great sharpness. The composition is briliant with the tree that "points" to the upper right corner of the photo.

Hello Jean-Yves,

La composition est minimale mais fonctionne bien. Tu as laissé la plus grande place à ce ciel parfaitement équipé en nuages moutonneux. J'ai pu capté les mêmes, le même jour sur les hauteurs neuchâteloise.
J'aime bien les personnes dans le bas de l'image qui donne le brin de vie nécessaire à ces plages thurgoviennes.

Sacrée Toniade ici mais les nuages en valait la peine. J'aime bien l'inclusion des gens qui accentuent l'immensité du ciel.

Présentation un peu fantaisiste de la Thurgovie... D'autres disaient "sous les pavés, la plage..."! Si tu veux vraiment la mer et la montagne ensemble, il te faut retourner en Corse, au Monténégro (c'est devenu bigrement cher...), ou à Nice! On a ici vraiment l'impression que tout est en vacances, c'est bien... parce qu'en Suisse, ce n'est pas l'impression générale, la plupart du temps!

Hallo Jean Yves! Interessanterweise stehen die Leute mehr auf Matterhorn als auf Fotokunst. Alleine die Wolken sind ein kleines Kunststueck und wie Du sie ins Zentrum gerueckt hast mit dem riesigen Himmel und ganz wenig Boden und wie der Baum zum Himmel waechst. Kleine suesse Thurgauer dort hinten am Wasser, wie sie so flanieren und den Sonntag geniessen. Ich habe einen Freund der von Winterthur nach Zuerich pendelt, und dieser Zug ist voller Thurgauer, die auf dem Land wohnen und in Zuerich arbeiten, und er haelt den Dialekt nicht aus und wechselt staendig das Abteil. Ein wenig kleinlich vielleicht, aber seltsam ist der Dialekt schon. Was machst Du eigentlich da hinten am Bodensee? Warst im See plantschen oder so? Barbara.

quel ciel magnifique!C'est bizarre,avec ses nuages plissés,j'ai l'impression de voir une grande étendue d'eau et des reflets!Peut-être que je ne suis pas bien réveillée!En tout cas,tu as bien fait de lui laisser une immense place sur ta photo!J'aime bien le contraste avec le vert vif et lumineux!Superbe!

super Bild, wieder einmal! Gefällt mir gut, dass du viel Platz für diesen klasse Himmel gelassen hast. Schön wie du den Baum platziert hast und die Leute rechts daneben. Hab ja einige deiner Fotos verpasst in letzter Zeit, aber erst jetzt kann ich ins Internet und mal wieder ein paar Kommentare schreiben.
Gefällt mir richtig gut!

Bonjour Jean-Yves,
Je n'avais pas vu passer celle-ci dans laquelle tu as laissé toute la place (ou presque) à ce magnifique ciel bleu!
L'ensemble est vraiment très beau, avec ces gens qui apprécient une belle journée d'été.
On ne voit vraiment pas grand chose du lac, mais cela laisse place à l'imagination et je me dis qu'il doit être bien agréable se balader par là-bas.

Bonjour, Jean-Yves. Très belle progression dans ton image. Les marcheurs, l'arbre et puis le ciel. Cela procure une belle sensation d'étendue et de liberté. Un PDV bas bien choisi qui permet aux promeneurs de se détacher sur l'horizon.
