Photographer’s Note

Better late than never, here's the weekly papagolfade offering coming from the inner depth of Switzerland, the Rigi is a mountain in Central Switzerland shared by the Schwyz and Luzern cantons and a very popular destination anytime of the year. This photo has been taken on the schwyz side and features the Papagolfade in one of the several hamlets surrounded by trees in glowing fall colors

Dedicated to France Telecom who managed to destroy my phone line and the ADSL internet connection associated to it.

Salut Jean-Yves,

Je détecte un traitement pp encore plus radical qu'à l'habitude, avec la façade de l'église qui semble être sharpened comme un bistouri, éclaircie et contrastée.

Dans l'ensemble, j'aime bien le décor, le point de vue et le temps gris qui donne du caractère à ton image. La composition aussi me plaît.

It is sad but they (Telecom companies) are all the same anywhere in the world. And they even do not apologise for their mistakes!!!
But, the Papagolfade is beautiful with a very sharp church and fantastic colours. Well done.

Excellent scene, the colours and lighting are sublime as is your compo. I miss being so close to Europe these days as you just can't get these scenes in New Zealand. Nice dedication to France Telecom btw.

Un peu en retard pour la papagolfade mais néanmoins elle est superbe cette photo avec une bonne saturation des couleurs automnales, le tout sous un ciel menaçant qui t'a tout de même permis de faire quelque chose de très bien.

Tu te mets aussi au HDR? Si oui, il faut avouer que le traitement est assez discret et laisse les couleurs à peu près naturelles. Une composition très plaisante avec ces beaux arbres aux couleurs automnales et ce chemin nous conduisant vers cette jolie église.

Simple but well captured, and made interesting by the lovely autumn colours in the trees. The contrast between the foreground buildings and trees and the darker sky is nice, but I have to ask, is it a HDR? because it doesn't quite seem natural how bright the building is in comparison to the sky.

A very pretty autumnal picture with good point of view to the chapel. I like the how the way leads to the chapel and the good balance with the colourful tree to the left. Well composed with very good image quality.

Desspite your struggles with France Telecom, this picture is worth posting for. Not only the fall colours, but also the house is wonderfil placed in the frame. The path that goes to go is well composed and creates some depth in the the photo...

A l'heure officielle de TE, tu as bien posté ta Papagolfade le dimanche 9... pas de retard donc;-)
Mais peu importe après tout, elle est pleine de charme cette église, même sous ce temps incertain. Tu as réussi à bien faire ressortir les couleurs sur les arbres à l'avant-plan et ta compo est très réussie.

A fine well conceived composition with a pleasing painterly feel to it. Superb contrasts and colours. The charged sky does much to heighten the mood and provides a good foil for the autumnal tones.

Quelques déconvenues avec France Telecom ! Une image dont le traitement me rappelle un peu celui du tonemapping. Mais je ne crois pas que cela soit le cas ici. Le ciel aurait eu encore plus de caractère !
la photographie a beaucoup de charme tout de même avec ce ciel gris surplombant cette charmante chapelle. Les arbres apportent leurs doses de couleurs.

Hello Jean Yves,

You have created a spectacular landscape painting, fusing together the best elements of composition, perspective, light management, colors and resolution. The sky cannot be more dramatic. This is an infinitely better photograph than if you had direct sunlight, creating stark contrasts in light and shadows.

Sympa ces feuilles jaunes avec le ciel gris. En plus la porte de l'église est jaune. Belle lumière.
J'ai appris l'autre jour pourquoi il fait bon vivre en Appenzell. Tu paieras moins d'impôts, moins d'assurances et moins de loyer. Appenzell était en tête et le pays de Bibi bon dernier.

I was on the Rigi a couple of years ago. Though in summer, the clouds were about the same like here. I like the many different shades of grey contrsated by the autumnal colours of the leaves.
