Photographer’s Note
Locomotive number 7 of Vitznau-Rigi Bahn climbing towards Rigi Kulm. This cogwheel steam locomotive is from 1873 and was the very first locomotive built by legendary Schweizerische Lokomotiv- und Maschinenfabrik (SLM).
Number 7 was in active service until electrification of Vitznau-Rigi Bahn in 1937. Distinctive vertical boiler was chosen for more even water level on steep grades, but it was later converted to horizontal one for easier maintenance. Current boiler is from refurbishment in 1996. Number 7 has been on display at Swiss Museum of Transport until comeback as the highlight of Rigi-Bahnen in 2009.

A lovely dated and wonderfully sepia image with all the romance and poetry of the past Kari. I like your note and now want to visit the Railway Museum we have here in Delhi!

Hello,

Hi Kari,
Love the sepia tone treatment giving this shot the classic vintage look, it is timeless and one of the earlier mass stranporation. I don't really care too much for the feather edges. Good sharpness and details and nice contrast.

Hello Kari,
Une photographie vintage qui est très bien réalisée.
L'effet sépia est bienvenu ici pour donner à l'image un air hors d'age.
A+

A beautifull old machine, which seems to have been designed especially to climb that steep slope. The B&W, and faded contours are a good choice to stress the age of this mechanicla monument.
All the best,
Emmanuel

I was thinking this was a fantastic treatment just like an old photo, as there are no anachronisms in the image unless the cables are from modern times. I live close to where railways were born. There are places nearby where you would be in your element.:D
