Photographer’s Note
I was in a museum some weeks ago hanging over a sculpture trying to understand the true meaning of it. I was just about to become a minor headache :) Then a little girl came over “oh figure with three arms” she said and jumped away. And so it was, she was right.
The same with this photo. I was staring at it for a while trying to find appropriate words to something that means something but maybe not a lot so I might as well say green grass with snow, and this is not wrong, isn’t it?
These were the first evident signs that winter was not far, and I liked the patterns the snow gave letting the grass look through.

hi Barbara :)
there's something in this shot that cought my eye immediately, and I guess it's the simplicity of the scene. green grass, white snow, blue sky and white clouds, a bit like a child's painting - unpretentious, but therefore all the more pleasant. a postcard :) and you know I have a Thing about postcards :) so yes, I like the shot - the patterns, the gentle curves of the hills, the saturated colours. thanks for sharing.
have a great weekend,
Kristine

Hi Barbara,
Nice minimalist composition, full of simplicity.
The first signs of the winter, I like much the green grass through the snow.
Great pov and light curves.

Bonjour Barbara,
Amicalement.
daniel.

Hi Barbara
It's simple but effective and why not a simple title to go with it. I always like the contrasts created in such conditions with just a thin layer of snow. The sky is nicely polarized and that cloud adds lots of atmosphere.

Salut Barbara
Je toujours bien aimé cette couleur qui resulte du melange entre le blanc de la neige et l'herbe encore visible. C'est une
image qui me plait et le cadrage verticale et bien choisi.

Hi Barbara,
Lets put it this way a simple but very effective image with beautiful contrast in colors and intresting patterns on the ground and in the sky. Here the last four days of October were about average in temperature causing this October to fall into 2nd place as the all time warmest on record. There are strange things happening to the weather on this globe.

Hello Barbara! Nice capture of the transitioning seasons. I like how the big cloud is poking its way over the hilltop perhaps bringing more interesting weather with it. The whites, greens, and blues contrast beautifully.
Well done!

Hello Barbara,
I see indeed the first signs of winter you mentionned earlier, two more meters on this thin layer and it will be fine... I like here actually most the middle part with the curves, possibly framing horizontally would focus better on this part. The sky blue is superb.
Have a nice day JY

Hi Barbara,
Very nice composition. It looks to me like a landscape with a bit of abstract character. I like how the soft hills provide a layering look. The colors of green and blue look great together. We have not had snow yet here in Massachusetts, but that will change here too...soon.

Hallo Barbara.

Hello Barbara -
We don't need to be reminded that it is just around the corner. Autumn is hanging on here in Colorado and it is just wonderful. I did the last clean up of the leaves for the season this morning so it is not far away. This is a simple image and effective with a nice balance between FG and BG. Well done.
Thank you for sharing.

Hallo Barbara.

hello, barbara. i agree, trying to come up with "smart" titles can be a real pain at times. and most often the most obvious and simple thing that we were trying to avoid is the right one actually. i find green grass with snow is a good one for this composition. and i would be fascinated by this natural phenomenon as well. pleasing composition with mountain layers in the foregrond and the looming cloud in the background. on a nitpicking note: at least on my monitor, the snow appears a tad on the grayish side. maybe the photo is slightly underexposed? in any case, it's a pleasing sight and thanks for sharing it with us.
my regards,
kristaps

Another nice one here, Barbara--I think the grass/snow texture makes for a very interesting image. I think it might be even better if you put the total emphasis on that texture by cropping away all the blue part of the sky, keeping just some of the clouds. Then it could also work as B/W. You have a good eye, though, to spot this as a photo op. Regards, Ken.

Hi Barbara,
You have portrayed the quintessential Denver April weather in this photo (even though this photo was taken thousands of miles from Denver). We both live in Alpine areas and we deal with snow year round. You created a very nice, almost abstract rendition with some nice patterns of grass and snow with a beautiful sky in the background. I am sure that the mixture of grass and snow just dumbfounds and confuses people who don't live in mountainous areas like we do. I am also quite sure that some of the TE viewers did a double-take when they saw the snow and green grass. A very good artistic shot and a very interesting geographic image! Good work! (I don't think that the snow is too dark at all. It is realistically portrayed).
