Photographer’s Note
Near St. Gallen there's two tall railway bridges close to each other across the Sitter river. This shot was taken from the SBB bridge on the line to Winterthur showing the bridge of Südostbahn on the line towards Herisau. With height of 99 m this bridge is the tallest normal gauge railway bridge in Europe.
The train on the bridge is Voralpen-Express (Pre-Alpine Express), an hourly service between Lucerne and Romanshorn.
View from another angle is here.

Hi Kari,
Nice to come across your gallery, you have some lovely photos! The thing I love most in this photo is the fantastic level of contrast within the greens which is really hard to get. On top of that, your point of view has created a nice composition and you've even waited until the train was crossing which adds to the shot.
all the best

Good morning Kari!
What a view! Again a wondeful railway photo! The whole scenery here is really beautiful and I like especially these natural colours and this play of light and shadow in the landscape. A photo "to dream into" ... ;-)
Greetings from snowy Germany!

Hello Kari! Oh yes, sometimes I sit in this one, I guess I wrote that before, when I have no car to drive to Unterwasser; just some minutes Voralpenexpress (Rapperswil-Wattwil) before I have to change again. Excellent composition. I like the stripe of blue sky and the "fast" line of the train going over the bridge. Impressive construction, you found a great spot for this. Have a good weekend, Barbara.
PS. I saw your note about the airstrip, thanks so much, I sent it directly to the pilot in command and also showed it to my working colleague who sits like me on the passenger seat with her boyfriend, and we both thought that this would be an exciting thing to do and fly to Finland and land on the road but yeah I know, I understood, not for private use ... :))))

Excellent PoV for this Kari, but what's that odd curve running across the image just above the train.

This is how I like them: trainscapes! :)
It's a pity that the loco is a bit overexposed, but I guess that was the result of contrast and sharpening work. The original must be good enough. So much to see. Very nice.

You always demonstrate perfect timing in your train shots, Kari, to position the train in exactly the right spot in the composition (which in itself is always well framed). I assume you were on the other bridge waiting for the express to pass over and you didn't shoot this from a passing train on the other bridge (if you did, your timing was a one-in-a million chance!).
Technically excellent too except for the halo on top of the hills under the arches of the bridge. I can't work out what caused that. I thought it may have been from over-sharpening, but can't see any evidence of that elsewhere in the image.
Cheers . . . David
