Photographer’s Note
For some years I was working for a public relations agency and quite often we were hanging over a photo or a text brain storming for appropriate titles or short texts. Coming over this photo I knew what would happen and I certainly had starting problems leaving some words for my red poles in snow photo. But the longer you look, the more ideas move in. Typing this I was listening to Cat Power, and I could have typed in her music text, or I could have written about my relatives who start to complain that they never have me or any other person on any photos no longer, and I guess there is some truth in it :)
For those who never tour the Alps, they stick these poles in late fall in case it starts to snow. It shows you a street or a path when the white takes over and you cannot see where it goes down and keeps you from falling when the edges are not visible. I have been to these corner many times before in different seasons, and it has left some sings on TE as well.

a lot of graphic impact for this image though it manages to remain a serene composition.

Einfach nur schö.

Hallo Barbara,
mir gefallen minimalistische Sachen ausgezeichnet.

Hi Barbara,
Wonderful simple capture of these colors that contrast so effectively. The sky is a brilliant blue and the fresh snow sparkles in the afternoon sun. Very informative note explaining the practical purpose for the red poles.

Salut Barbara,
Gruss, JY

Hi Barbara,
You did a great job with this abstract type of image! The textures of the snow, the clear blue sky and the red poles are all that is needed to create this wonderful abstraction. The snow poles remind me of the snow poles on Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, which doesn't usually open until early June. Beautiful photograph!

Barbara,
wer is der wuester hier?

Hi Barbara
This is a nice minimalistic composition with a real soft feel to it. At first I thought I would have liked to see the poles a little closer to the centre but on second thoughts they hold the eye in the picture as the land rises on the left so it stops us from falling down the hill:)

Hello Barbara,

Hi Barbara,
this is a very peaceful and minimalistic image. You have good proportions in your image with the two 'mounds' of snow in the bottom two thirds and a fine blue sky with a smattering of wispy cloud in the top third. I like the fact that you've positioned the poles (not literally) at the side and even with so little in the picture it leads the eye up towards the top. The exposure is great and you even have texture in the snow. It's a really fine shot and one for my theme 'TE Moments'. Congratulations and well done.

hello there, barbara
i see, barbara is still very snowy, snowy, snowy ;) c'me on... it's spring already, lol...
that aside, i like this shot with the red poles and the blidingly white snow (well managed whites, BTW, the texture is definitely there) against the backdrop of the sky. not sure about the marginal placement of the poles though. it seems, their redness kind of begs for more attention, in my opinion :)
warm regards,

Hello Barbara
I like the pure white snow and the blue sky. The loneliness is well represented here. Great details and the light is well used. The two res poles are a great idea. Well done

Hello Barbara
I was telling someone that I've rarely seen more beautiful pictures of snow (not to forget the aerial shots as well) as I see from you. This is simplicity personified, total white with the two red poles, the contours of the 'snow dunes' against the clear blue sky. A perfect example of "little is more", actually much, much more, and it's a learning for me as well. Thank you Barbara for this treat to the eyes! (have you thought of ~ I I as a title?
Best Regards
Angshu

Hello Barbara,
Lovely virgin snow in this original and eye-catching composition!
Artistic and appealing, the large white surface is well exposed and enhanced nicely by the blue sky...

Hi Barbara,
What I like about this shot is that it is so absolutely minimal that it almost becomes abstract. The blue white and red colour combinations all going so well together. And I really like that the snow is so crisp and smooth with no imprints or interruptions. Simply great!
