Photographer’s Note
When I look at my two trees and how they stand there fighting against alls sorts of weather, they somehow reminded me of a pose we sometimes do in yoga class and funny enough this asana is called the “tree pose”. Nothing complicated like a headstand but very good for your balance. Nevertheless it does depend on your condition and the easiest pose can sometimes be difficult, one you made a dozen times without any problems can all of the sudden cause difficulties, and it forces you to concentrate and to reflect.
I have a magazine that has some wind-and-weather-yoga advise with the headline “no more colds”, and I immediately bought it since this is a weak point and I easily get colds. These poses you should do outside, in fresh air. It all looked easy enough in the magazine how the girl did the poses at some beautiful lake side in her fancy dress. I decided to follow the advise and was starting to do the class as described. But I forgot about the audience that this might attract and I saw my neighbour peaking through the curtains so I decided to move inside and rather have a cold :)
I had an email the other day coming from our Vermont friend Art, and obviously Benno told him that I was in yoga class, so when I came home we had his email and he wrote [… ] Hello to and welcome back to Barbara ... hope she unwinds doing yoga […] I thought that was funny because sometimes I have really problems to move out of a strange position and the worst part is if you have to laugh, this is when I earn angry looks from my yoga instructor. The absolute low point is if we sing, this is really when I have to hold back laughing because our singing is just so awful but it is quite relaxing and before Christmas we were hugging each other after singing and Benno thought that I was completely out of my mind when I told him what went on. No wonder we have no men in our class, although it is a nice litte club with all ages of women going from 19 to 62.
Oh well, before I fill one page with yoga poses and what came out, this picture was taken last year in late March, an easy hiking kind of afternoon with brilliant weather conditions and a 100 pictures in my tank after.

Hallo Barbara,
Lange Story, was ? kein Mann dabei ??? Falls es euch mal ein Photographer fehlt, freue ich mich auf viele nette Modelle ;-)

Hallo Barbara,
A very bright picture were the sky makes nice contrast but the trees are a bit to centered. A small black stroke around the picture would made his stand better at the bottom, but i see you already discussed that with JY ;-)

Hello Barbara,
Beautiful late winter sky that contrtast wonderfully with the pure white snow. The wispy clouds and a little bit of a coming moon add nice definition to this fine winter image.

hello, barbara
a very clear, bright and pleasing composition. i like how you have exposed the sky rendering the snow blissfully white. a very nice contrast. i agree with floydian, the trees seem a bit too centered in your composition, but i suspect this is a by-effect of the white frame.
kind regards,
kristaps

hej Barbara
you have a certain nobles for those well composed images in blue and white, and this is for sure no regret. but they become very wintry but not frosty a kind of very sporty mood in them with out having any action. very good indeed.

another one of your signature photos :) you make it all seem so simple - just put together blue and white, make sure lines are strong and clear, add a nicely shaped tree, et voilà! another perfect minimalistic shot. but those little details are what make your photos special, like the almost invisible shape of the Moon in the upper right corner. love it :)
best,
Kristine

Hola Barbara,
Azul y blanco tan solo rotos por esos dos árboles desnudos. Efectividad en la sencillez. Me gusta también como utilizas la inclinación de la ladera para darle mayor expresividad.
Saludos,

Nice graphic style here, Barbara. It's pure and austere without being harsh, like a mind concentrating during yoga. But unlike (I guess) yoga, here you want to avoid too much balance, so maybe it would be better to frame it so the main tree is a bit less centered. I'm being picky, though, because it works well as it is. Regards, Ken.

Hi, Barbara,
I'm really enjoying this latest series of yours.
I love minimal shots, and this sure is a great one. A perfectly placed diagonal, a few rocks, a couple trees, snow and blue skies... wonderful.
You have a great sunday, my dear.
I was hoping to get out with doggie and cameras today, but the weather is LOUSY... what else's new around here!
See you soon.
Ciao,
Fulvio.

Hallo Barbara!

This is really winter. The clear blue sky, the white snow and trees waiting till it gets spring again.
Very nicely captured and extremely well exposed.
I really like it a lot.
Friendly regards,
Eddie
