Photographer’s Note

When I look at my two trees and how they stand there fighting against alls sorts of weather, they somehow reminded me of a pose we sometimes do in yoga class and funny enough this asana is called the “tree pose”. Nothing complicated like a headstand but very good for your balance. Nevertheless it does depend on your condition and the easiest pose can sometimes be difficult, one you made a dozen times without any problems can all of the sudden cause difficulties, and it forces you to concentrate and to reflect.

I have a magazine that has some wind-and-weather-yoga advise with the headline “no more colds”, and I immediately bought it since this is a weak point and I easily get colds. These poses you should do outside, in fresh air. It all looked easy enough in the magazine how the girl did the poses at some beautiful lake side in her fancy dress. I decided to follow the advise and was starting to do the class as described. But I forgot about the audience that this might attract and I saw my neighbour peaking through the curtains so I decided to move inside and rather have a cold :)

I had an email the other day coming from our Vermont friend Art, and obviously Benno told him that I was in yoga class, so when I came home we had his email and he wrote [… ] Hello to and welcome back to Barbara ... hope she unwinds doing yoga […] I thought that was funny because sometimes I have really problems to move out of a strange position and the worst part is if you have to laugh, this is when I earn angry looks from my yoga instructor. The absolute low point is if we sing, this is really when I have to hold back laughing because our singing is just so awful but it is quite relaxing and before Christmas we were hugging each other after singing and Benno thought that I was completely out of my mind when I told him what went on. No wonder we have no men in our class, although it is a nice litte club with all ages of women going from 19 to 62.

Oh well, before I fill one page with yoga poses and what came out, this picture was taken last year in late March, an easy hiking kind of afternoon with brilliant weather conditions and a 100 pictures in my tank after.
