Photographer’s Note
I’m not sure why it is that so many mountain trains are coloured red, but somehow a red train always seems to cheer up any scene. This nice little train had efficiently taken us up the mountain in the morning in heavy falling snow. I had not been hopeful of too many hours of comfortable skiing, but after a few runs in very snowy conditions and a long lunch sheltering indoors, the clouds parted and the whole landscape glistened with fresh powder snow.
By now it is late afternoon, we are enjoying a drink on the sunny terrace and the Parsennbahn train is busy running up and down the mountain to take skiers home after a really satisfying day on the mountain. The mountain on the right is the Jakobshorn (2590m) and the one on the left is the Sentisch Horn (2827m).

Clever shot- the red train stands out nicely against the whites of the snow and mountains. A great composition and photo to look at!
Well done,

Hi Susanna,
Everything that's red evoke something positive! Think Switzerland, Canada, Santa Claus, Coca Cola and Canon!... :-P)
Here you are, jumping in the wagon of trainspotters... But what a location to spot trains! This landscape is breathtaking and it's very impressive to see these snow covered mountains and valley from your point of view.
Splendid "trainscape"...

Helloooooooooo Susanna,
Well, i would bring you home, but not in this red train ;-)
I've been only once in Davos and that was in the summer, but have to admit this winter scenery looks very impressive. I like that the sunlight is still lying in front and over the train, where the middle section is lying in the shade and on top back in the sun again...i like that, brings different layers in the image.
A great view from here...very nice work, or should i say photojob? ;-)))
Have a nice day, Henk

Yellooooo Red Terror ;-)))
Ah such a nice train red in the mountains, definitely more appealing than any yellow ;-)
And it populates the foreground so nicely in helping the eye dive into the valley, hope you did not forget to ski a bit as well between photos !

Hi Susanna,
Red stands out really well agains the almost B&W landscape. Great view with good framing. I once wanted to travel with this but the train wasn't in operation in the beginning of July.

Susanna,
This is a great photo! The red train creates nice contrast to the snow and mountains. Your composition is fine placing the train to one side while centering the background nicely. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF.

BOnjour Susanna,
Amicalement.
Daniel.

Susanna,
You do have more than a little scenery over there!
Brilliantly clear shot and, you're probably right, that red train does "cheer up the scene" and, you're right again, why are they always red? World over in my experience?

Hello Susanna,
Red tram is very attractive in the middle of snowy white and dark green forest. Mouth of tunnel makes me very curios about its route. Splendid city texture, great depth under snowy, huge ridges and hills. Congratulations.

Olá Susanna, it would have quite a diferent look if the train was white. And would also be a less attractive picture. Even if what makes me excited here, is the monumental view in the background, the cloudy sky and the light touching the peaks. The red train makes a good FG and I even like the whitish and fluffy FG. A nostalgic one for me.

I was thinking the same thing about the red train before reading your note. Very well exposed snowy image enlivened by the train. It really needs a touch of yellow though ;)
Good work

Hi Susanna
I think mountain trains were painted red so that JY could publish a book full of images of them. Your one is really cute too with it's huge windows and it stands out so nicely against the snow. You had beautiful weather too. I'm frustrated that we only skiied 2 mornings the whole of the ski season. Hopefully the conditions will be as good next year.
Regards

Hello Susanna!
I went to Switzerland in 2005 and just loved the Country, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful places on Earth!
I was close to Davos, because I visited St. Moritz!
Your picture brings us two swiss icons - snow capped mountains and a red train! It's a great shot!
TFS - Congratulations!
Greetings from Brazil,
