Photographer’s Note

Mühlehorn at the Walensee. Walensee (Lake Walen) is a gorgeous lake in eastern Switzerland. This photo was taken during a short stop on the highway.

The word Walen is coming from the word Walh (singular) or Walha (plural) which is an ancient Germanic word, meaning "foreigner" or "stranger".

Hi Achim, A truly stunning view, the mountain range is something I would love to wake up to in a morning, the rail tracks help to lead the eye, the colours & light are very good & the focus sharp, there is a little PP work that needs touching up on to the top right, as there is a slight mist, however still a great photo, kind regards Wilson.

A first class landscape shot taken from a superb viewpoint. I imagine the highway was elevated in this place, on a bridge perhaps. You have a wonderful view of the curving railway line and the road. The mountains are clear and sharp and there is good detail in the sky. I love the great sense of space behind the village. Really good shot.

Perfect viewpoint at the location where railway enters tunnel. Sidelight gives good contrasts and the place is beautiful. Would be even better with a train.
(Mühlehorn is just within the canton of Glarus, although background of the picture is St. Gallen.)

Hi Achim,

The curve of the rail tracks and the reflections in the water are assets to the composition. The point of view leads our eyes toward the mountains which is giving depth to the picture. The photo is clear and sharp. The light brings out the best of the colors. Have a nice day.

Excellent photograph! I agree with all the praise of your choice of composition and manipulation of the colors, however I'm a little distracted by what seems to be some unfinished work with the PS outline tool over on the upper-right side of the photo. It looks as if you were outlining the mountains to alter their levels separately from the rest of the photo, but forgot a spot. Perhaps go back and rework that so it blends a little better!
