Photographer’s Note

This old man is looking into the waters of the alpine Seealpsee lake in swiss canton Appenzell on a beautiful summer morning. He probably has never heard of TE and will never know that his fishing ground is shared with plenty of viewers worldwide using the internet.

I always enjoy coming here regularly and chat with my TE friends around the globe, but there's nothing better than meeting them like at the memorable Bibiday 2006, see Bibiday 2006 I and Bibiday 2006 II for numerous workshops of our fellow TE members in action.

This is for me the opportunity to mention a good part of the TE fun is hidden in the workshops (and the "Photos" forum...), if you have time explore the workshops, there is a wide number of pearls to be discovered there ;-) You'll find there as well plenty of advices to improve your photos.

Hi Jean,
great shot. The whole composition is excellent. Especially the old man gives the photo an interesting attachment. The reflections and colours are brilliant as well.

I will not make it that far, that's for sure.
But i like your dedication to this site and your daily posts...my deepest respect for that.
And although not all your images are my taste, the large majority is just as this one. A beautiful view in again beautiful Swiss.
Love the yellow butturcops in front together with the man posing at the lake...and wonderful blue sky on top..!!!

A good wide framing to make a lot of the splendid scenery - amplified by the included reflections - and a nice inclusion of the single person by the shore seemingly deep in thoughts while facing the grand sight. Lovely colors and lotsa detail. 700 is a milestone that few have passed, and I congratulate you on doing so. You know that even if we don't always agree on everything (which is actually a good thing), I appreciate your work and the effort you put into this community.

Et dire qu'avec mes deux jours d'ancienneté de plus que toi, j'ai posté deux fois moins d'images... on peut dire que tu remporte la palme d'assiduité haut la main! :o)
Une 700e image qui égale les 699 autres en ce qui concerne la qualité photographique et l'aspect LATW. Des montagnes à DUOEB et un reflet qui DGSR! ;o) Merci pour les éloges sur le Bibiday et j'espère qu'on pourra bientôt y rajouter un Dolinday tout aussi mémorable!

Je vois le message de Brigitte et je pense à peu près la même chose, je m'approche doucement des 300 (et 100 de Fagnes LOL).
A propos de la photo, ben c'est ma préférée de celles que tu a prises à Wasserauen: belle reflexion et couleurs agrémenté dun joli ciel.

Well chosen picture for a review of last century!
Beautiful reflections on the lake. Anyway, I still prefer 'Some like it wide' because of closeness of flowers and less shadow. Also colour balance is warmer on that one.

Congratulations, Jean Yves, you are going fast, I remember not long ago it was 600... I guess with so much TE experience one must sometimes feel a bit reflexive, and this is what is perfectly illustrated in the picture, with the man looking at the reflection of himself and his surroundings in this beautiful alpine lake. Let me tell you I really enjoy your gallery, thanks to it I have learned so many interesting places and will certainly use it when planning my next trips. What I also admire is that you provide excellent photography but in the same time never forget about the TE "LATW" mission, like many others here...

700?! Wow... I like this one very much Jean Yves (although I am still looking for the railway...)! The scenery is amazing. And your composition very good too. These V shaped compos are surely among my favorites and the very natural colors you recorded here clearly contribute for the success of this one. The reflection in the green lake is marvelous. Someone who's never heard of the mighty TE? I don't believe it! Great shot, with a beautiful mountain and lake scene, but what really elevates this to another level is the presence and positioning of the man. This adds a little story to the shot, and really makes it easy for us to imagine that we are there too. Great work!

Le pêcheur équilibre parfaitement la compo entre la partie un peu sombre a gauche et celle de droite.

How the members that post daily, like you, have time for TE, is a mistery to me. This is like a full time job, for me, if I'll post everyday!

Je ne sais pas comment tu arrives tenir le rythme et être déjà à 700 Photos, en tout cas Bravo.

Sympa d'utiliser pour ta 700eme un paysage d'Helvètie. Comme d'hab il est superbe par sa compo, son sujet, sa lumière et ses couleurs.

Great compositional skills that you're showing here, Jean-Yves. The dark triangle as a backdrop for the man giving a nice contrast to his not so light clothings and the flowers in the fg. The petagon of water reservoir with its reflections and finally the diagonally coming in mountains at the other side of the shot.

I was fooled once by Bibi and for a moment I thought this one is an answer to that, but of course I remembered your Nr. 600 and saw a reflection here so I knew this must be Nr. 700. And this also reminds me of another recent Bibi's photo by the way a human figure is facing the grand surroundings and also because you are using the same wide angle... It seems that we are inspired by each other even in ways we don't comprehend. I don't want to make just a Bibi commercial, so I found another of your similar theme here.

I think that tiny fisherman and the way he looked down enhances this already beautiful composition of light and colours very much. I also like the two symmetrical trees near the centre of the pic. Bonjour, Jean Yves. Impressionnant, la qualité de cette photo est impressionnante tout comme le nombre de photos que tu as postées sut TE. Ici, les nuances de vert sont innombrables et apportent une grande fraîcheur à ta photo. Elle est encore rehaussée par les fleurs jaunes de l'avant-plan et leurs collègues de l'autre rive. L'inclusion du pêcheur apporte de la vie dans la photo, mais également un élément de référence pour apprécier à sa juste valeur la grandeur du paysage. Ah oui, où avais-je la tête, j'allais oublier les sommets. Le vert leur va très bien et les met bien en valeur. A propos, n'est-ce pas la tour du Mont Rigi que l'on voit poindre à l'horizon? Je repasse...

J'aime beaucoup ce genre de paysage dans lequel tu as restitué des couleurs d'origine. J'envie ce promeneur chanceux de respirer l'air.
