Photographer’s Note

Schlatt is a tiny but lovely village situated on top of one of the many Appenzell hills, as you can see it's really barely more than a few traditional houses grouped around the nice Papagolfade with its bulb tower.

De beaux prés verts , un grand ciel bleu , et au milieu , les maisons aux toits rouges et le superbe clocher à bulbe : c'est simple , mais bien agréable à regarder . Comme la campage apenselloise sans doute .

Hi Jean Yves, The level of sharp detail in this image is excellent such an attractive place. One can read the time on the clock tower,which dominates the view,the cemetery and tractor give context.Thanks Tom.

It looks like a beautiful place and all the windows tell of a view the othter way too. Excellent, crisp detail and lovely natural colours. There's a tractor, but no sheep! ;D

Salut JY, there is always something on top of a hill in your country. And luckily for us, it is usually something beautiful. You really manage harsh light well (I wish I could learn) and your depth of field is always so clean. I like the large FG here too, the texture and green of the grass really lead the eye in well to what's on top of the hill :) TFS and enjoy your Sunday, Lisa.

This is a nice Papgolfade for this fine Sunday morning. Your composition is outstanding with the green field providing a rising lead in for the shot. The off center placement of the church works well with the other buildings providing balance. The lighting and colors are great as is the photo's sharpness and DOF.

Nice daily life village scene, in beautiful light. The bulb tower reminds me of Lutheran churches I've seen in Tallinn (Nevskii Cathedral in particular); any connection?

On dirait un autre pays (en tout cas par rapport à la Suisse Romande, clin d'oeil au colonel), avec l'architecture différente de l'église. C'est quand-même joli à l'autre côté du Rösti-Graben.

Encore qu'elle manque de sujets au plan rapproché, l'image est toutefois profonde et agréable à voir, surtout pour sa nétteté, ses couleurs, la calme qui transmit.

The swiss architecture and all that green (trees and lawn) are so good-looking and the contrast with the bluest sky is superb!
